'Days of our Lives' Stars Judi Evans and Wally Kurth Bumped to Recurring Status?

Judi Evans, Wally Kurth
Earlier this year, fans of Days of our Lives were excited to hear fan favorites Judi Evans (who plays Adrienne Johnson Kiriakis) and Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis) were back on the contract with the NBC soap opera. According to a new story on about.com, both actors were informed yesterday they are being taken off contract once again.

In a possibly related Facebook post last night, Evans posted about her other job with Rose Hills Memorial Park. "So grateful to work at Rose Hills.....," she wrote.

"Being an actress can be a waiting game. For most, it's waiting tables. For all, it's waiting for the phone to ring," Evans explained in a 2008 interview, when it was revealed she was selling cemetery plots. "I have been lucky, better yet, blessed enough, to have worked on soap operas for over 20 years. With that being said, it has made me somewhat of a workaholic. I thrive when I'm busy, and make myself and my family crazy when I'm not busy. Waiting around for my manager or my agent to call is not my forte. When works slows, I want--no, I need--some kind of job to take on, and fast, before I make everybody crazy."

Kurth was recurring on both Days and ABC's General Hospital (as Ned Ashton) when he signed the contract with Days.

Whoopi Goldberg On Viola Davis' Emmys Speech: "Not Sure What It Means"
"Well, I’m not sure what it means," Goldberg told BET.com. "Opportunity to do what? Do you know what I mean?... The truth of the matter is there’s been plenty of opportunity. I mean, Scandal. Let’s just start with that. Kerry Washington is there and she’s working her booty off, okay? But they didn’t vote for her. So, maybe the question is, 'What do you have to do to get voted on?' That's the thing."

Ryan Murphy and Gwyneth Paltrow team up for a One Hit Wonders musical dramedy

NEWS: Anthony Geary, Wally Kurth, John Stamos, Hulk Hogan, Aubrey Peeples, Alicia Coppola, Brianna Brown

Anthony Geary on how General Hospital grew into a cultural phenomenon
"It’s amazing in retrospect. At the time we were working so hard, I don’t think we really realized the impact that the show was having, or that the marriage of Luke and Laura was having, on its audience. Genie Francis and I were working five days a week, sometimes as much as 70 pages of dialogue a day, so we would finish our work, go home, learn the next day’s work and come back and do it for months at a time. And it really took leaving the studio and going out of L.A. – either making a personal appearance or going to my parents’ home in Utah – for me to realize that the show and this character was having the impact it was having."

Coppola plays Alison, Jake’s mother and the wife of the conservative, emotionally withdrawn Frank, whom she fears. A steady diet of antidepressants help block out her crumbling marriage and keeps her sane. Brown is Eva, another guest at the Grayfield Hotel, who’s seeking shelter from the storm. A con artist, Eva went down the wrong path in life, let her actions get out of control and is on a journey to right these wrongs.

Hulk Hogan apologizes for 'unacceptable' racist rant as he is scrubbed from WWE Hall of Fame
Hulk Hogan is speaking out about a just-released audio transcript that features him making racist slurs about his daughter Brooke's love life.

"Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it," Hogan said in a statement exclusively to PEOPLE. The transcript featuring that conversation was published online by the National Enquirer.

"This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise," Hogan told People. "I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs."

Showbiz411 takes issue General Hospital star Michelle Stafford "sneaking" Scientology into Nickelodeon
Writes Roger Friedman: "Scientology may have been outed on HBO’s Going Clear but it’s going strong at Nickelodeon. The children network’s Nickmom.com website is currently featuring short films from Michelle Stafford, the extremely mannered actress who jumped from one soap opera, The Young and the Restless [as Phyllis], to another, General Hospital [as Nina], last year. Stafford is an avowed member of Scientology. So is her production: everyone involved with her Secret Mind of a Single Mom is from Scientology. Just about the entire credit list, from actors to crew, are members of the cult."

Wally Kurth Back on Contract with 'Days of our Lives'

Wally Kurth
Wally Kurth, who has been on recurring status on both Days of our Lives (as Justin Kiriakis) and General Hospital (as Ned Ashton) has inked a contract to remain in Salem full-time, according to Daytime Confidential.

"I was flattered that Days offered me a contract," Kurth told Soap Opera Digest. "My first in 10 years. Justin is a character I created in 1987 and I am really excited to be given the opportunity to be even more featured on the show. They have big things planned for him. Obviously, it is bittersweet, since I also consider Ned my own and was really enjoying being back in the Q family. I did try to keep them both going but it wasn't meant to be."

There's no word yet on when or how GH will wrap up Ned's storyline.

UPDATE:
Judi Evans (Adrienne) and Mary Beth Evans (Kayla) are both also back on contract with Days.

NEWS ROUNDUP: Irna Phillips, Tracey E. Bregman, Ming-Na, Kamar de los Reyes, Wally Kurth

Irna Phillips: Brief life of soap opera’s single mother (1901-1973)
Lynn Liccardo writes in the January-February 2013 issue of Harvard Magazine: "Haunted by her lost pregnancy, in 1972 she created ATWT's beautiful and independent Kim Reynolds, who was meant to have a baby of her own. Of course, to conceive that baby, Kim seduced her sister’s husband. Sponsor Procter & Gamble, unwilling to reward adultery, chose to veto that happy ending; when Phillips—increasingly difficult to work with and unwilling to sensationalize her plots to compete with rival shows—was fired, Kim’s pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. It’s hard to say what caused Phillips more pain—losing the show that was so real to her, or reliving the loss of her baby as Kim lost hers. A few months later, she died of a heart attack, or perhaps of a broken heart."

Ming-Na to guest star in NASHVILLE
Ming-Na will appear in an upcoming episode of NASHVILLE as Calista Reeves, a successful Los Angeles music-label exec with designs on luring Connie Britton’s country superstar away from her Edgehill roost.
