PREVIEW: ABC Tuesday Night Soap THE RIVER

ABC's new series THE RIVER airs a new episode on Tuesday, February 14.

In "Los Ciegos," when the whole crew of the Magus goes blind due to spores from a tree, lone holdout AJ will have to overcome his most paralyzing fear to find a cure before the blindness becomes permanent.

Meanwhile, the local Morcego tribe stalks the crew and judges whether they are worthy to stay in the jungle. If they are deemed unworthy, the consequences could be fatal.

Tuesday Night Ratings: THE RIVER Has Solid Premiere

Below is a look at the Tuesday primetime television ratings:

From ABC:
In viewers (7.5 million) and young adults (2.4/6), ABC's debut of THE RIVER opened to 11-week highs in the 2-hour time period (9:00-11:00 p.m.), producing the Net's best results since the season finale of DANCING WITH THE STARS (on 11/22/11). In addition, the program scored the Net's 2nd-highest numbers in the time period this season across all key Men demos (M18-34/M18-49/M25-54).

* Holding 100% of its audience share from start to finish, the new ABC drama ranked No. 1 during its final hour from 10:00-11:00 p.m. among Adults 18-49, beating out NBC's PARENTHOOD by 38% (2.2/6 vs. 1.6/4).

* THE RIVER generated enormous year-to-year time period improvement for ABC over original drama programming on the year-ago night ("V"/DETROIT 1-8-7 = 5.5 million and 1.5/4), jumping by 36% in Total Viewers and by 60% in Adults 18-49.

Other Soap Ratings:
PARENTHOOD attracted 4.64 million viewers, with a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating.

The CW's 90210 was watched by 1.36 million viewers, with a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating, 1.1 women 18-34 rating.

RINGER had 1.15 million viewers, with a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating, 0.7 women 18-34 rating.

GLEE was down over 25% compared to last year. The show had 7.72 million viewers, with an adults 18-49 rating of 3.2.

The 200th episode of NCIS delivered a season-high 20.98 million viewers and ranked as Tuesday's #1 program in both viewers and key demographics, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings.

PREVIEW: ABC Tuesday Night Soap THE RIVER

ABC’s new series THE RIVER will have a two-hour premiere TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 7 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

In the first hour, “Magus,” Dr. Emmet Cole, beloved adventurer and television personality goes missing deep in the Amazon. After a fruitless search for him, his family and friends abandon hope and hold a memorial service to commemorate his amazing life. His grieving wife, Tess, reluctantly tries to face the reality that her husband is gone, while her son, Lincoln, is more than ready to bury his past. Six months later Emmet’s location beacon mysteriously begins to relay a signal. Tess persuades Lincoln to join her and Emmet’s film crew on a journey through the Amazon to find him, a journey on which horrifying and almost mythical events will push them to their limits.

ABC Announces Midseason Premiere Dates - THE RIVER Feb 7, GCB Mar. 4, MISSING Mar. 15

ABC has announced the following midseason premiere dates for the 2011-12 season. THE RIVER will debut on February 7, MISSING on March 15, while GCB (former GOOD CHRISTIAN BITCHES then GOOD CHRISTIAN BELLES) finally arrives on March 4.

ABC Unveils 2011-2012 Primetime Schedule

ABC released its fall schedule on Tuesday which includes five total soaps - DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, GREY'S ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE, PAN AM, and ONCE UPON A TIME.

Come midseason, hot new soap GOOD CHRISTIAN BELLES will premiere along with THE RIVER and SCANDAL. ABC may be canceling its daytime soaps but the genre is alive and well at night.

Here's the lineup for fall:
