The GLAAD Media Awards celebrate outstanding representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and our allies on TV, in film, and in the news. NEWS ROUNDUP: Andra Fuller Talks L.A. COMPLEX. Plus, DOWNTON UK Ratings, Nikki Blonsky To SMASH

“When I accepted this role and what it entailed, my family and friends were like, ‘Why do you want to play a gay dude?’ They also wanted to know why every time a Black man is shown on TV as gay; he has to be on the down low. But they didn’t look at the ramification: I’m playing a very successful down low rapper on a network television show. That’s never happened before.”

DOWNTON ABBEY UK premiere share UP but total viewers slightly DOWN from last year
DOWNTON ABBEY increased its percentage of the viewing public in the season premiere last night, though fewer people tuned into program this year as a whole, figures show. The Edwardian drama pulled in 36% of viewers, up from 34.6% in 2011, meaning that it was the most popular show among those watching on Sunday night after X FACTOR.

THE L.A. COMPLEX returns with the first seven, all-new episodes from its second season, Tuesday, July 17 (9:00-10:00 p.m.) on The CW. To lead up to its season two premiere, The network is currently encoring the entire first season.

Tuesday Night Ratings: PRIVATE PRACTICE Up, GLEE, 90210 Down

The Tuesday overnight Nielsen ratings are in. Below is a roundup of May 15 ratings reports:

From ABC:
In its season closer, ABC's PRIVATE PRACTICE shot up over the prior week by 22% in Total Viewers, by 29% in Adults 18-49 and by 30% in Adults 25-54.

Spiking in its season finale against increased competition from the second hour of CBS' 2-hour NCIS: LA finale, PRIVATE PRACTICE beat out NBC's season finale of FASHION STAR by 2.2 million viewers (7.1 million vs. 4.9 million) and by 13% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/5 vs. 1.6/4) during the 10 o'clock hour. In addition, the ABC drama ranked No. 2 in its slot with Adults 25-54 and key Women (W18-49/W25-54).

From The Wrap: Fox took third in the demo and fourth in total viewers with back-to-back episodes of GLEE. The first airing at 8 p.m. was down 11 percent from last week, receiving a 2.4/8, and had 6 million total viewers. The second episode at 9, which featured Lohan guest-starring as herself, was down 7 percent from last week, posting a 2.5/7. It attracted 6 million total viewers. Overall the network averaged a 2.5/7 in the demo and 6 million total viewers.

From B&C:
The CW ended with an overall 0.4/1. 90210 fell a tenth to a 0.5. THE L.A. COMPLEX was steady at a 0.2.

PREVIEW: 90210 & THE L.A. COMPLEX Tuesday on The CW

90210 is all-new on The CW on Tuesday, May 8 at 8 p.m. ET followed by the third episode of THE L.A. COMPLEX.

In "A Tale of Two Parties," a reluctant Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) tries to sabotage the bachelorette party she has to host for Max's (guest star Josh Zuckerman) fiancee Madison (guest star Caitlin Thompson), where Madison's childhood crush, Nick Carter, makes a surprise appearance.

Wednesday Night Ratings: REVENGE Up, L.A. COMPLEX Repeat Reaches Series High

The Wednesday night Nielsen ratings are in. Below is a roundup of May 2 ratings reports:

From ABC:
During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's REVENGE ran in a near tie for first place Adults 18-49 (tying CBS' CSI in audience share - 2.1/6 vs. 2.3/6), while ranking No. 1 in the hour with Adults 18-34 and across all key Women demos (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54). The ABC freshman drama beat out NBC's veteran LAW & ORDER: SVU in the hour with Total Viewers (+9% - 7.1 million vs. 6.5 million), Adults 18-49 (+17% - 2.1/6 vs. 1.8/5) and Adults 25-54 (+17% - 2.7/7 vs. 2.3/6).

The Tuesday overnight Nielsen ratings are in. Below is a roundup of May 1 ratings reports:

From ABC:
During the 10 o'clock hour against all-original competition, ABC's PRIVATE PRACTICE ranked No. 1 for the 2nd week in a row, leading runner-up CBS' "Unforgettable" by double digits in Adults 18-49 (+17% - 2.1/6 vs. 1.8/5) and Adults 25-54 (+12% - 2.9/7 vs. 2.6/6). Holding an impressive 91% of its Adult 18-49 lead-in (2.1/6 vs. 2.3/6), PRIVATE PRACTICE continued to generate ABC's strongest retention this season out of "DWTS Results Show."

With its lowered lead-in, ABC's REVENGE slipped to 6.83 million viewers and a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49, still winning the hour.

A boosted GLEE gave Fox a win among adults 18-49 on Tuesday night. The series' musical to tribute to Whitney Houston rose three tenths of a point for a 2.7 rating in the demo.

PREVIEW: 90210 Returns & THE L.A. COMPLEX Premieres Tuesday on The CW

90210 returns on The CW on Tuesday, April 24 at 8 p.m. ET followed by the premiere of THE L.A. COMPLEX.

In "Bride and Prejudice," Naomi's (AnnaLynne McCord) friends worry that she is rushing to get married, so Naomi and P.J. (guest star Nick Zano) decide to throw a small party so everyone can get to know him.

Austin (guest star Justin Deeley) returns to Los Angeles and offers to be Adrianna's (Jessica Lowndes) new manager, suggesting she give country music a try.

Caleb (guest star Robert Hoffman) is concerned Ivy (Gillian Zinser) might not be emotionally stable, while Annie (Shenae Grimes) finally admits to Caleb that she is falling for him.
