'The Killing' Final Season Launches on Netflix August 1

Netflix has announced it will launch the last six episodes of murder-mystery series The Killing in all territories on August 1, 2014.

The Killing was canceled by AMC in 2012 after two seasons, but was revived when Netflix teamed with the cabler in a shared-window pact. AMC canceled the show last year after the third season — but Netflix again stepped in to buy a limited-run fourth season from Fox Television Studios.

The first three seasons of The Killing are already available for streaming on Netflix.

The show stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman as Seattle detectives enmeshed in murder cases. The U.S. adaptation is based on the Danish series Forbrydelsen.

Binge viewing is the new normal, per Netflix (in time for holiday shopping)
Netflix released data Dec. 12 confirming a bit of conventional wisdom: binge viewing is the new normal. Not coincidentally, the data supports the company’s stream-and-binge business model. It also proves you weren’t the only one who devoured HOUSE OF CARDS in a week, or “Orange is the New Black” in a few sittings.

The data suggests binge viewers have little guilt about embracing this new social norm.

The data found out of 1,500 adult TV streamers in the U.S (those that stream shows at least once a week), 61% binge-watch shows regularly. The average binge-watch clocked at 2.3 episodes per sitting.

Adam Gregory tweets response to speculation he was gone from THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL after being removed from the opening credits
"Retracted my last tweet cause I’m not gone, I’m actually back soon! I’m just not a regular and my career is taking a different direction ... Thank you to all my #BB fans for sticking by me through this whole time! You guys are all awesome! I do miss my #BB family."

Why Connie Britton Isn't Mourning the Nixed FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Movie
Britton said of Lights creator Peter Berg's recent announcement that a movie version isn't in the cards. "I think that the decision needed to be made, and there’s been so much going back and forth about it now for so long. And I feel like the only way that was ever going to work is if it just fell into place beautifully, and if everybody was on board, because we couldn’t do anything to risk what FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS has already been."

Rob Corddry Joins HBO Pilot BALLERS

"I was really shocked [that Olivia's mother would ultimately be a terrorist]. I used to say Olivia is so successful, I don't understand why in her personal life she's not more together. It was always a puzzling part of her that I loved so much, but that I always struggled with justifying. Now, I look at her upbringing and the relationship with her parents and think we're lucky she's not a drug addict in prison somewhere!"

SMASH Season 2 Scoop: Showrunners Promise Same Show, Different Vibe
The NBC musical drama, one of the most talked about series in 2012, is back in February with a new showrunner (GOSSIP GIRL's Josh Safran), a new vibe and new castmembers. But according to Safran, viewers won't feel that the show itself is new.

"The stuff that you love from last year is still there, and the stuff that people thought maybe went off on tangents, we've looked at. Maybe bigger, more music. Maybe younger, in regards to the new castmembers," Safran said during Smash's panel at Sunday's Television Critic's Association Press Tour. Even though some changes are being made, Safran insisted that he didn't go into his new showrunner gig with plans to gut SMASH.
