David Hedison Dead at 92


Former Another World star David Hedison died Thursday in Los Angeles, a family spokeswoman announced. He was 92.

Born Al David Hedison on May 20, 1927, in Providence, Rhode Island, Hedison discovered the theater while attending Brown University and studied in New York under Sanford Meisner at The Neighborhood Playhouse and with Lee Strasberg at The Actors Studio.

He worked alongside Uta Hagen and Michael Redgrave in-off Broadway productions by Clifford Odets and Christopher Fry, among others, and made his big-screen debut in the World War II naval drama The Enemy Below (1957), starring Robert Mitchum.

After starring in the original The Fly and Son of Robin Hood in 1958, he signed a contract at Twentieth Century Fox, changing his stage name to David Hedison.

1973: On The Doctors, Dr. Steve Aldrich (David O'Brien) admitted he lied to Carolee Simpson (Carolee Campbell) out of fear she might not be able to handle the thought that Cathy Ryker might never return their baby. Later, on the phone with Billy's school, Carolee learned he was also missing.

Georgann Johnson Dead at 91

Georgann Johnson, best known for her roles on TV and Broadway, died on June 4. She was 91.

The actress died in Los Angeles, daughter Carol Prager announced in the obituary section of the Los Angeles Times.

Johnson was born on August 15, 1926, in Decorah, Iowa, and worked as a character actress in more than 115 films and TV series including Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Too Close For Comfort and Archie Bunker’s Place.

It was in the 1953 Broadway revival of "Room Service" that Johnson met actor and future husband, Stanley Prager. After Prager's death in 1972, she was married to Honorable Jack Tenner, a Superior Court Judge and civil rights activist, until his death in 2008.

Other notable credits included Life Sentence (1953) opposite James Dean, Bang the Drum Slowly (1956) opposite Paul Newman and Midnight Cowboy (1969), which won the Oscar for Best Picture.

Johnson also appeared in Three's Company as John Ritter's mother in 1983.

On daytime soap operas, she found a career resurgence with roles on Another World/Somerset (1970-76) as Ellen Grant, As the World Turns as Jane Spencer, and All My Children as Eugenia Robards. She had previously played Edith Cobb on The Doctors. In primetime soaps, she played doctors on both Dallas, Knots Landing and The Colbys (Dr. Waverly). She also starred in Our Family Honor and The Trials of Rosie O'Neill.

Johnson is survived by her four daughters — Carol Prager, Annie Prager, Sally Seymour and Molly Boyll — and three grandchildren, Hannah Seymour, Gabriel Seymour, and Caroline Boyll.

Ken Howard Dead at 71

Ken Howard
Actor Ken Howard, who was the current SAG-AFTRA President, died on Wednesday, March 23. He was 71.

No cause of death has been announced for Howard, best known for his lead role of Ken Reeves in the groundbreaking CBS drama The White Shadow. Howard won both a Daytime and Primetime Emmy Award during his career.

Howard's widow Linda wrote on Instagram: "My heart is broken, but the onslaught of love and admiration for Ken are of great comfort. He was my "Big Dog" and I have experienced what real love truly is. Thank you all for your calls, emails, texts and postings. It means the world. Need to take a bit of time, but wanted everyone to know I'm okay and oh so grateful to you all."

Howard played Garrett Boydston on Dynasty and The Colbys; George Summers on The Young and the Restless; and George Andrews on Melrose Place. His numerous other credits Cane, Crossing Jordan, The Practice, It's Not Easy, The Manhunter, Adam's Rib and Murder, She Wrote.
