'All My Children' Replacement 'The Chew' Has Been Canceled

After seven seasons, ABC's All My Children replacement, The Chew, has been canceled. The Chew will cease production at the end of this season but will continue to air as planned until September with all-new episodes airing in June.

ABC News' Emmy Award-winning morning show, Good Morning America, will expand to three hours. The new third hour of the program will air at 1 p.m. EDT, noon CDT/PDT.

"Over the past six years 'Good Morning America' has solidified its place as America's No. 1 morning show," said Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks, and president, Disney|ABC Television. "We believe there is great opportunity for viewers and advertisers in expanding to a third hour."

ABC Announces 'Spooktacular' October Programming for 'General Hospital' and More

ABC has announced special Halloween ‘spooktacular’ programming for daytime drama General Hospital and the networks's entire roster of primetime comedies, The Chew, and more. Other highlights include the holiday classic It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, celebrating its 50th anniversary. All times listed are EDT.

Monday, October 17
The Chew - Week of October 17-21 –Every day this week, The Chew kicks off the season with frightfully fabulous recipes or devilishly delightful tips for entertaining. In addition, celebrity guests this week include Hilary Duff (Younger) on Monday, October 17; Victoria Justice (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) and HGTVs’ Chip & Joanna Gaines (The Magnolia Story) on Wednesday, October 19; and Wanda Sykes on Thursday, October 20. It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown - Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the 1966 half-hour animated special It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown has the Peanuts gang celebrating Halloween, with Linus hoping that he will finally be visited by The Great Pumpkin. Cast members include Peter Robbins ("Charlie Brown”) and Christopher Shea ("Linus”). (8:00–8:30 p.m.)

'General Hospital' Soars to Over 1-Year High in Total Viewers and Multi-Month Highs in Target Women Demographics

General Hospital surged to an over 1-year high in Total Viewers (3.186 million) and over 8-month highs in Women 18-49 (665,000/1.0 rating) and Women 25-54 (889,000/1.5 rating) – since the weeks of 1/6/14 and 6/9/14, accordingly – ranking as the week’s No. 2 drama in daytime in Women 18-49.

Monday’s show stood as the series’ most-watched telecast in over 1-year in Total Viewers (3.421 million), in close to 1-year in Women 18-49 (804,000/1.3 rating) and over 8-months in Women 25-54 (1.016 million/1.7 rating) – since 1/28/14, 3/25/14 and 6/9/14, respectively.

Meanwhile, The Chew registered a 3-month high in Total Viewers (3.042 million) and 10-week highs in Women 18-49 (497,000/0.8 rating) and Women 25-54 (656,000/1.1 rating) – since the weeks of 11/24/14 and 12/8/14, respectively.

Monday’s telecast – featuring surprise guest cook Tracee Ellis Ross of black-ish and Robin Roberts – qualified as the series’ No. 2 show on record in Total Viewers (3.689 million), its No. 5 telecast of all time in Women 18-49 (659,000/1.0 rating) and was the 2nd-most-watched airing in over 8-months in Women 25-54 (810,000/1.3 rating), behind only 2/2/15 and since 6/5/14.

Barbara Walters Says Goodbye to Daily Television with her Final Co-Host Appearance on 'The View' May 16

The special weeklong event "ABC: A Barbara Celebration" kicks off live on Monday as The View honors the broadcast legend during her final days as co-host. Follow the conversation all week long #celebratebarbara.

“Everyone at The View is honored to be part of Barbara’s final week as co-host and we recognize how fortunate we are to be witnessing television history,” said executive producer Bill Geddie. “If there’s one thing I’m sure of it’s that the stars will never align to create another Barbara Walters. She is irreplaceable,” Geddie added.

It's "Deja View" when, for the first time in television history, all 11 co-hosts of The View, past and present, will share the same stage, live, Thursday, May 15 to celebrate the show’s creator Barbara Walters. Journalist Meredith Vieira, lawyer Star Jones, comedian Joy Behar, television personality Debbie Matenopoulos, journalist Lisa Ling, comedian Rosie O’Donnell, and talk show host Elisabeth Hasselbeck will join Sherri Shepherd, Jenny McCarthy, Whoopi Goldberg and Walters for this momentous, once in a lifetime television event. ABC Celebrates Halloween with a Spooktacular Lineup of Shows

October is spooktacular on ABC, as the network gets into the spirit of things (literally!) with Disney·Pixar's first special for television, Toy Story OF TERROR!, daytime's THE CHEW, THE VIEW and GENERAL HOSPITAL, featuring frightfully entertaining celebrations, ABC comedies airing ghoulishly-good Halloween-themed episodes, GREY'S ANATOMY featuring a spooky storyline, and even SHARK TANK getting into the swim of the scary holiday. Also on Halloween night, the network will air the beloved classic IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN, and JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE will host a Halloween party. DAYTIME RATINGS: GENERAL HOSPITAL Tops Women 18-34 Demo For 6th Consecutive Week (Updated)

GENERAL HOSPITAL spiked to another 5-month high in Total Viewers for the week of September 23-27, 2013, and ranked as Daytime's #1 program for the 6th consecutive week in Women 18-34. Check out what ABC had to say about their daytime lineup below:

GENERAL HOSPITAL: (2:00 – 3:00 p.m.)

Fresh off its best season in 5 years, this week GENERAL HOSPITAL surged to a 5-month high in Total Viewers (2.80 million) – since week of 4/8/13 – posting double digit increases over the year ago week across all core categories.

Notably, GENERAL HOSPITAL ranked as the #1 program in daytime for the 6th consecutive week in Women 18-34 (262,000/0.8 rating), and placed a solid #2 in Women 18-49 (730,000/1.1 rating) and Women 25-54 (954,000/1.6 rating).

THE CHEW Prop Supervisor Ivan Giovanettina Shot & Killed During Robbery Attempt In Brooklyn

Friends and colleagues are mourning the untimely death of a 41-year-old man gunned down two blocks from his home in Brooklyn. Ivan Giovanettina, a prop supervisor on the daytime talk show THE CHEW, was found with a bullet wound to the torso at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday on Macon Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant, police said. He previously worked on SOAP TALK.

Giovanettina was the victim of a street robbery, police said. Witnesses saw two men fleeing the scene, 1010 WINS’ Al Jones reported. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Katie Couric To Guest On THE CHEW's Season Premiere

ABC's THE CHEW returns for its second season Monday, September 10 (1:00-2:00 p.m. ET), as the new lead-in for GENERAL HOSPITAL.  According to an ABC press release THE CHEW's new season brings "with it a smorgasbord of exciting guests, culinary creations and tips and tricks to make life healthier, easier and, frankly, a whole lot more fabulous."
