'Guiding Light' Emmy Winner Ellen Parker to Star in "20th Century Blues"

Guiding Light alum Ellen Parker, who won an Emmy for her portrayal of Maureen Bauer on the iconic soap opera, is set to star in "20th Century Blues," the new play by Indie Series Award winner Susan Miller that is making its New York premiere in November. The 10-week limited engagement will begin November 12.

Directed by Tony nominee Emily Mann, "20th Century Blues" is described as follows:

A Ted Talk. A photo shoot. A test of friendship. And a bond that connects four women who meet once a year to have their pictures taken in a ritual that chronicles their changing (and aging) selves as they navigate through love, careers, children, and the complications of history. But, when these private photographs have the potential to go public, relationships are strained, forcing the women to confront who they are, what they’ve become, and how they’ll deal with whatever lies ahead. From the author of My Left Breast, Susan Miller’s 20th Century Blues is the sharply funny and evocative new play that questions our place in the world and with one another.

Also starring are Beth Dixon (The Good Wife), Helen Hayes Award winner Franchelle Stewart Dorn (‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore), Emmy nominee Polly Draper (thirtysomething), two-time Obie winner Kathryn Grody (Top Girls) and Charles Socarides (Sons of the Prophet).

Performances are scheduled through January 28, 2018. Tickets are available at 20thcenturyblues.com.

The nominees were:
Anthony Anderson, ANACOSTIA
Michael Caruso, DEVANITY
Sebastian La Cause, HUSTLING
Jason Leaver, OUT WITH DAD
Adam Goldman & Sasha Winters, THE OUTS
Greg Tulonen, Rick Dalton, Karen L. Dodd, Barry Dodd & Jacob Lear, RAGGED ISLE

Michael Caruso won and gave a very funny and poignant speech.
Getting this from her (Susan Miller)...unbelievable. I really was not expecting this. I know everybody says that but I really wasn't. Thank you to Roger and Damon and Kevin for this. I started writing DeVanity because I didn't have the money to pay for therapy. I thought it would be a really nice way to just create something fun. I remember Friday nights growing up the world stopped for my grandmother when FALCON CREST was on. She would not let anything happen until that show was over. I didn't know who Angela Channing was other than she was a crazy old bitch who liked grapes. It was amazing because my grandmother grew up really poor in kind of that other world country, and it was really nice to see her escape for an hour. I always wanted to do something that I thought she would want to watch one day. My grandmother passed away while we were filming Season Two of DEVANITY. Wherever she is I hope she watches my show and isn't too offended by the swearing and all of the disgusting things we do. Thank you very much, this is is wonderful.

NEWS ROUNDUP: Showbiz411 Blasts Brian Frons! Would You Watch An AMC Web Show? 'Hitler' Soap Changes Name

Showbiz411 wonders if GENERAL HOSPITAL will kill off Robin Scorpio, blasts Brian Frons for destroying the ABC soaps
"Congratulations to Brian Frons, the ABC exec who over saw the dismantling. He masterfully figured out ways to drive fans from the shows in order to lower their ratings, and kill them. The good news is, whoever’s left watching ABC daytime will know how to cook a chicken and how to execute a wine reduction. This is valuable information."
