Starz Developing New Version of Telenovela 'Teresa'

Starz President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Albrecht announced at today's Starz Television Critics Association (TCA) presentation at the Beverly Hilton that Starz is developing the original series Teresa with Lionsgate and Televisa USA, a division of the Mexican media company Grupo Televisa. Award-winning writer/producer Carlos Portugal (East Los High, Pop Star) will create the series and serve as showrunner.

The show, based on the highly-rated, award-winning Mexican telenovela Teresa, focuses on an undocumented young Latina clawing her way into the exclusive world of Los Angeles wealth. The series will chronicle her ruthless pursuit of money and power and her willingness to do anything to get them.

"We're excited to be working with Carlos, Lionsgate and Televisa USA on re-developing this iconic telenovela for American audiences. Teresa will showcase a modern take on what it means to be Latina in America," said Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director for Starz.

Former 'One Life to Live' Star David Fumero Joins 'Power' Season 2

One Life to Live and Manhattanites star David Fumero has booked a series regular role on season two of the Starz drama Power, according to Deadline.com.

Fumero will play Mike Sandoval, the handsome new Chief of the Crime Division, who has moved from Southern California to NY to make sure this prominent investigation is run correctly.

Fumero played Christian Vega in One Life to Live from 1998-2011.

Starz Inks Two-Year Pact with Executive Producer David Knoller

Starz has entered into an overall deal with David Knoller. Under the pact, Knoller will focus on producing, writing and directing. Knoller will serve as Executive Producer for Blackbirds and the recently renewed series Power, while continuing to develop original programming for Starz.

"David is one of those rare people who is able to make everything he's involved in better. As a producer and creator we believe in David's ability and look forward to our continued relationship," said Carmi Zlotnik, managing director of Starz.

Starz Summer 2014 New Series: 'Power' and 'Outlander'

'Outlander' to Premiere August 9 on Starz

Starz announced today that its highly anticipated new original series Outlander, adapted from Diana Gabaldon's international best-selling books and executive produced by Ronald D. Moore ("Battlestar Galactica," "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "Star Trek: The Next Generation") will debut Saturday, August 9th at 9pm ET/PT. The sixteen-episode first season is currently shooting on location in Scotland.

Starz also released the official image of the key art with the tagline, "What if your future was the past?" The poster depicts Claire (Caitriona Balfe), a married British combat nurse from 1945 who mysteriously falls back in time to 1743 Scotland, where she is torn between her husband Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a Scottish warrior who comes to her rescue. The image represents Claire's physical and emotional journey. At the start of the series, she is a woman who has been transported into the past, but she's reaching back and trying to stay connected to the life and husband that are now beyond her reach. Starz collaborated with The Refinery and photographer Frank Ockenfels 3 to create the key art which was shot on location in the Scottish highlands.

Starz Renews 'Da Vinci's Demons' For Third Season; John Shiban Named New Showrunner

Starz Chief Executive Officer Chris Albrecht today announced a third season of Da Vinci's Demons has been greenlit. The historical fantasy, created and executive produced by David S. Goyer and produced by Adjacent Productions, follows the 'untold' story of the world's greatest genius, Leonardo da Vinci, during his turbulent youth in Renaissance Florence.

John Shiban joins Da Vinci's Demons season three as executive producer and showrunner. Shiban began his career as a staff writer on FOX's The X-Files. During his stint on the celebrated FOX series, Shiban wrote or co-wrote over twenty episodes and served as executive producer by the end of the series' nine-year run. His writing on The X-Files garnered him an Emmy nomination. As a producer, Shiban has also been honored with a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Dramatic Series for The X-Files. Shiban joined AMC's Breaking Bad as a consulting producer in its second season, penning several episodes of the acclaimed series. He received a WGA Award nomination for Episodic Drama for the episode "Phoenix" and wrote and directed Season Three's penultimate episode "Sunset." On AMC's Hell on Wheels, Shiban served as executive producer and showrunner, writing and directing numerous episodes.

Starz Releases New Trailer for 'Outlander'

The upcoming Starz series Outlander spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history, and adventure in one epic tale. The series, adapted from Diana Gabaldon's international best-selling books by Ronald D. Moore, is currently filming on location in Scotland and is set to premiere on Starz this Summer. It follows the story of Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a married combat nurse from 1945, who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743. Upon her arrival, she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. But when she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate relationship is ignited. Now, Claire's heart is torn between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

'Power' Will Premiere June 7 on Starz

The upcoming Starz original series Power will debut on Saturday, June 7th at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Executive Producer Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson has released a new music video for his new single, "Big Rich Town," which was created specifically for the show and will serve as the main title theme, is performed by 50 Cent and features never before seen footage from the New York based crime drama from Emmy nominated writer Courtney Kemp Agboh.

"For me the musical component of Power is so important; I wanted to let the music speak to the viewers as they are watching the show and being able to create the theme song, 'Big Rich Town,' was crucial as it sets the tone of the show. The audience will also get the chance to hear additional music off my latest album, Animal Ambition, as the theme of the album translates into events portrayed in the show," shares Executive Producer Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson.

Power tells the story of a visionary crime drama set in two different worlds, the glamorous New York club scene and the brutal drug trade.

Victor Garber and Sonya Walger Join Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s POWER on Starz

David Michôd to Direct Starz Drama FLESH AND BONE

Starz announced today that acclaimed filmmaker David Michôd will direct the first episode of the new original drama series FLESH AND BONE. Michôd is known as both a writer and director and his debut feature film Animal Kingdom went on to win multiple awards, as well as Golden Globe and Oscar nominations. His next feature film, The Rover, which he wrote and directed, stars Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson.

FLESH AND BONE, was created by Emmy award-winning BREAKING BAD Writer and Executive Producer, Moira Walley-Beckett and follows a young ballet dancer with a distinctly troubled past, as she joins a prestigious ballet company in New York. Starz Greenlights Ballet Drama FLESH AND BONE, Sarah Hay To Play Lead

Starz announced today the greenlight of its next original drama series, FLESH AND BONE, created by Emmy award-winning BREAKING BAD Writer and Executive Producer, Moira Walley-Beckett. FLESH AND BONE follows a young ballet dancer, Claire, who has a distinctly troubled past, as she joins a prestigious ballet company in New York. The dark and gritty series will unflinchingly explore the dysfunction and glamour of the ballet world.

Acclaimed dancer Sarah Hay (Black Swan) has been cast in the lead role, joining an already stellar cast of world-renowned dancers, including former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Irina Dvorovenko and current soloist Sascha Radetsky, along with Royal New Zealand Ballet artistic director and former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Ethan Stiefel attached as choreographer.

Starz Brings POWER to New York City - Production Has Begun on the Original Drama Series

The Starz Original drama POWER began production this week on an eight hour-long episode first season. Set in modern day New York, the series will film in and around the city's five boroughs, making it a major character throughout the season.

Executive Producer Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has been added to the cast in the recurring role of Kanan, an old friend of James "Ghost" St. Patrick's.

POWER tells the story of wealthy New York City nightclub owner, James "Ghost" St. Patrick, who caters to the city's elite. He wants to build an empire, turn the club into a Fortune 500 business, but there's just one problem: he is living a double life. When he is not in the club, he is the kingpin of the most lucrative drug network in New York for a very high-level clientele. His marriage, family and business all become unknowingly threatened as he is tempted to leave his criminal life behind and become the rags-to-riches businessman he wants to be most of all.

Starz Developing Half-Hour Scripted Dramedy, HEARTBEATS

Starz Managing Director, Carmi Zlotnik, announced today that the network has put into development a new half-hour scripted dramedy, HEARTBEATS, from Hypnotic's Doug Liman and Dave Bartis, Universal Cable Productions (UCP) and writers Ben York Jones and Michael Mohan.

HEARTBEATS is an intimate glimpse into the constantly intersecting and diverging lives of Bobby and Kristen; two down-to-Earth individuals who would be perfect for each other, if only they had met at a different time.

HEARTBEATS will explore their story with an episode format that focuses alternatingly on Bobby and Kristen.

Liman and Bartis will serve as Executive Producers, along with Co-Executive Producers and writers Jones and Mohan.

Set in Ronald Reagan's America and inspired by one of the biggest undercover operations in FBI history, WONDERWORLD follows two straight-arrow FBI agents as they infiltrate the violent Mob-controlled porn industry of the 1980s, with dire consequences for themselves and their families.

Starz in association with Sony Pictures Television has announced today that Laura Donnelly will play the role of Jenny Fraser in the original series OUTLANDER. Fellow cast member Lotte Verbeek was announced earlier this week to play the role of Geillis Duncan.

The series, adapted from Diana Gabaldon's international best-selling books by Ronald D. Moore ("Battlestar Galactica," "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "Star Trek: The Next Generation"), is currently filming on location in Scotland and is set to premiere on Starz in 2014.

Production Begins on Starz and Sony Pictures Television's OUTLANDER

Production began Monday on the Starz and Sony Pictures Television original series OUTLANDER.

"Day One and the battle is joined," said executive producer Ronald D. Moore. "We fight to do justice to the material and the fans. We'll return with our targes or on them."

Adapted from Diana Gabaldon's international bestselling novels, the series is filming on location in Scotland and will air on Starz in 2014.

Starz Presents "The Spartacus Saga: Uncut"

Legions of fans have spoken, and STARZ has answered the call! The entire SPARTACUS series will be rebroadcast beginning Saturday, October 26th with "Blood and Sand." Fans will be able to binge view multiple episodes every week, and will also be treated to bonus footage previously available only on the Blu-Ray discs.

Liam McIntyre will host each evening, offering his insights into each of the episodes from "Blood and Sand", "Gods of the Arena", "Vengeance" and "War of the Damned."

SPARTACUS averaged up to six million viewers per episode over the course of its highly acclaimed and successful four year run on the network. Additionally, it is an international smash, airing in over 150 countries and translated into more than 15 languages.

Starz to Develop New Original Drama Series GRINGO

Starz announced today that the company will develop the one-hour drama GRINGO. The project, inspired by "The Shadow Catcher," the non-fiction book by highly decorated U.S. Immigration Officer Hipolito Acosta, will chronicle a Mexican-American Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agent who infiltrates one of Mexico's most deadly drug and human smuggling cartels.

GRINGO is written by SPARTACUS franchise alums Aaron Helbing and Todd Helbing and Executive Produced by Steve Lee Jones (You Don't Know Jack) of Bee Holder Productions.

"GRINGO provides a thrilling and uniquely personal look into international organized crime, never seen by the American public, from the viewpoint of a federal undercover agent on the front lines," said Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director of Starz. Graham McTavish & Dougal MacKenzie Join Starz Original Series OUTLANDER

Starz in association with Sony Pictures Television has announced today that Graham McTavish (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, 24) will play Dougal MacKenzie and Gary Lewis (Billy Elliot, Gangs of New York) will play Colum MacKenzie in the highly anticipated original series OUTLANDER. The series will be adapted from Diana Gabaldon's international best-selling books, with the first two episodes written by executive producer Ronald D. Moore and directed by John Dahl. OUTLANDER, which is set to premiere on Starz in 2014, will begin filming in Scotland, where the series is set, this fall.
