A new 10-episode GUIDING LIGHT DVD was released today at Amazon.com, "The Jennifer Richards Trial." Featuring two weeks of episodes from January 1981, this explosive trial was pre-empted during a critical moment thanks to a news interruption about the release of the Iranian hostages.

EXCLUSIVE: SoapClassics Releases New GUIDING LIGHT DVD - The Bauer Family Story

SoapClassics today has released a brand new, 11-episode GUIDING LIGHT DVD: The Bauer Family Story.

The Bauer family first appeared on the 15-minute radio version of THE GUIDING LIGHT in 1948. The family moved with the show to television in 1952 (also continuing on radio until 1956). They remained central as the show moved its setting to Springfield, expanded to 30 minutes and then 60, and from black and white to color. This collection covers a span of episodes from 1973 to 2009.

The episodes are divided into two discs:
* Disc 1, “Meet the Bauers”, features six pivotal episodes in the history of the family, including a rare “bonus” episode from 1973.
* Disc Two, “Bauer Barbecues” contains five of the family’s traditional Independence Day gatherings (the Barbecues are one of the top requests from GL fans).

Below is a summary of the episodes on the new DVD:

EXCLUSIVE: SoapClassics Releases New GUIDING LIGHT DVD: The Phillip Spaulding Collection

SoapClassics today has released the latest GUIDING LIGHT DVD, "The Story of Phillip Spaulding," featuring five episodes that span 32 years. The DVD kicks off with a November 1977 episode shortly after the Spauldings arrived in Springfield. Over the course of five episodes, Phillip goes from a young boy to grandfather.

It's especially exciting to have found the 1977 episode, which we did not know existed before. Bridget and Jerome Dobson introduced the Spaulding family when GUIDING LIGHT expanded to an hour on November 7, 1977. The story was so well crafted, the secret of Phillip's birth played out over the next six years. You can watch the powerful episode in which Phillip reacts to the truth on the very first GUIDING LIGHT Classics DVD.

Below you will find the complete episode listing for the new disc.

EXCLUSIVE: SoapClassics Releases Carly & Jack "CarJack" AS THE WORLD TURNS DVD!

It's been the conventional wisdom for decades: daytime soap fans are intensely loyal. When We Love Soaps first began working with SoapClassics as they started re-releasing episodes of canceled daytime TV favorites, we were definitely counting on that loyalty--but so far, the enthusiasm of the soap fan community has exceeded even our expectations.

You'll remember that last fall, the SoapClassics partnership let us make a promise that helped us usher in 2012 as The Year of The Soap: as long as the fans keep up their amazing support, we'll keep the classic episodes coming.

So, after "AS THE WORLD TURNS Classics" received fantastic reception, we got "GUIDING LIGHT Classics" ready to release ahead of schedule--and even snuck in "Christmas in Oakdale" as a bonus for fans.

We got "The Reva Shayne Collection" ready for release even faster than we had planned, and now, another SoapClassics DVD collection, curated once again by We Love Soaps' Roger Newcomb, is ready to be shared and enjoyed: a 10-episode "CarJack Collection" of AS THE TURNS episodes, featuring the love story of Carly Tenney and Jack Snyder.

You know the drill!  Visit SoapClassics.com to order--you can catch the first glimpse of the episode list below.  Most of all, be sure to keep on giving us your feedback and support!  What do you think of the choices for this collection?  And what would you like see next?  Please tell us in the Comments section, below.

SoapClassics Begins Streaming AS THE WORLD TURNS on the Internet

SoapClassics today announced that it has started streaming episodes of AS THE WORLD TURNS on the internet. The episodes are primarily meant for viewers in the Netherlands and South Africa, where the series recently went off the air, but they can also be viewed from any country in the world.

SoapClassics President Mark Yates said, “This is our first step into the world of streaming episodic television. We’re starting with the Netherlands and South Africa because the series just came off the air in both countries, and interest there is still very high. For instance, in South Africa, the show has over a million viewers a day. It still has three years to run, but it was just replaced by another show. So we’re going to pick up right where they left off, with episodes from 2007."

INTERVIEW: Kristen Vigard Reminisces About Her Time at 'Guiding Light'

In the latest installment of our series highlighting the many special performances preserved in the Soap Classics DVD collections, We Love Soaps visits with Kristen Vigard, still fondly remembered for her run as Morgan Richards on GUIDING LIGHT more than 30 years ago.

Kristen Vigard joined the cast of GUIDING LIGHT in 1980 as the young virgin, Morgan Richards. Morgan's angst-filled romance with Kelly Nelson (John Wesley Shipp), their interaction with Tim (Kevin Bacon) and Hillary (Marsha Clarke), and the manipulations of Nola (Lisa Brown) were front and center for over a year. In August 1981, Kelly and Morgan were wed in a lovely outdoor ceremony at Laurel Falls. The wedding appears on the latest Soap Classics DVD, a 20-episode, 4-disc collection of GUIDING LIGHT episodes.  But where, exactly, was "Laurel Falls"?

EXCLUSIVE: Soap Classics To Release GUIDING LIGHT 20-Episode 4-Disc DVD In Mid-January

In our interview with Soap Classics President Mark Yates back in October, he revealed that a GUIDING LIGHT DVD would be release in the first quarter of 2012. We can now confirm that release is happening, and in mid-January!

The "Classics" DVD will follow a similar format as the AS THE WORLD TURNS Classics DVD (on sale now) with four discs with five episodes each.

We can't spoil all the episodes on the disc just yet but fans of Santo Domingo, the Bauer family, personality disorders, fire trucks, the magic of Nick, ex-husbands, singing med students, drunken stepfathers and Irna Phillips will be happy. Seriously, we tried to include as many different characters as possible on the set which covers almost a 30 year span.

We reveal a couple of our favorite episodes on the DVD below:

Christmas Comes Early! Classic AS THE WORLD TURNS Episode From 1982 Now Streaming

SoapClassics is now streaming a classic AS THE WORLD TURNS Christmas episode from 1982 in which David and Ellen Stewart get remarried. Longtime fans will recall what a rough year the couple had before their reunion.

I chose this episode because David and Ellen are such an iconic ATWT couple and we haven't been able to feature them properly on the first two DVD sets. Ellen is one of the original characters of the show and David joined a few years later. Their complicated romance, along with their children, drove story for years.

It also has an old school ATWT feel, so for those fans who really want to see the classics this is a nod to a couple (and family) that was there for decades. Plus, you get hot couple Tom and Margo and a very young Barbara and James. And, as far as I know, this episode isn't on YouTube or any other video sharing website. I really enjoyed watching it and hope you do too.

Visit SoapClassics.com to watch the episode and, if you haven't already, order one (or both) of the DVD collections while you are there!
