'Bold and Beautiful' Alum Rome Flynn Upped to 'How to Get Away with Murder' Series Regular

Former Bold and the Beautiful star Rome Flynn guest starred in the Season 4 finale of ABC's How to Get Away with Murder. He has officially been hired as a series regular for Season 5.

In his one and only scene so far, Gabriel showed up to Middleton College to sign up for law school on the same day as Frank (Charlie Weber). Upon seeing him, Frank immediately made a call saying, "Looks like the good times didn't last too long. Her kid's here."

Ultimately, that's not a whole lot to go on, which showrunner Pete Nowalk says is on purpose.

"He said, 'Her kid's here.' We really like to play with the pronouns here," Nowalk explains. "Obviously, Gabriel has a mother, and Frank knows of that mother or knows the mother. So that is a huge mystery, and we're going to be giving hints about it all next season."

As for when that mystery will ultimately unravel, Nowalk would only tease that it wouldn't be too long, but we should expect to get to know this character as a person a little bit before the show reveals his origins.

Rome Flynn Leaving 'The Bold and the Beautiful' as Zende

Rome Flynn has chosen to leave his role as Zende Forrester Dominguez on CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful.

Flynn discussed his exit from B&B on Instagram in a heartfelt letter to soap fans.

"First I want to thank [Executive Producer/Head Writer] Brad Bell for taking a chance on this ambitious young kid and giving me more responsibility than I knew I could take on," Flynn wrote. "I want to thank all of the B&B fans across the world for embracing me as your Zende Forrester. It has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life to share a piece of my self everyday with you. I worked hard to make sure I never cheated you on work ethic or integrity of this character. Such a profound responsibility to be one of the few African Americans on daytime television, one I took serious in making sure I made you feel like you knew me. My job is to imitate life in its honesty and truest form. I hope I’ve done you justice."

Flynn thanked co-star Reign Edwards (Nicole), adding, "You’re such a joy to have worked with and an amazing talent! … I wanna thank you for letting me in. We laughed together, we cried together, we went to war together & that’s what love is. Thank you Reigny #zencole."

He concluded by talking about change.

"This is not goodbye but I’ll see you soon! Change is good. You must make change to make way for what God has for you. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Love, Rome Flynn aka Zendaddy"

The show released an official statement confirming Flynn’s decision not to renew his contract, noting, "He has been a valued member of the B&B family and we wish him much success in all of his future endeavors."

Rome Flynn Joins 'The Bold and the Beautiful' as Zende

Rome Flynn
Rome Flynn has joined the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful as Zende Forrester Dominguez, according to TV Insider.

Zende had been orphaned when both parents died of AIDS. Zende had lived at an orphanage with his younger brother, but sadly, his brother also died of the disease. To help pay his way, Zende worked around the orphanage and helped take care of the younger children. Kristen Forrester (Tracy Melchior) and her husband, Tony Dominguez (Paulo Benedeti), discovered when Zende became too old to live in the orphanage he would probably end up on the streets or working anywhere he could find work. Kristen and Tony legally adopted young Zende, choosing to give him both of their surnames.

Warning: Spoilers ahead...

Zende will return to the Forrester fold thanks to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Pam (Alley Mills), who want the young man to be an intern at Forrester Creations and learn the family business. Just one catch: Ridge and Pam don't want the other interns to know Zende is a Forrester. Among those also applying for an internship at the company is young firestarter Nicole Avant (Reign Edwards). When she and Zende meet, sparks fly.

Flynn's credits include 2014 VH1 movie Drumline: A New Beat. He makes his B&B debut on June 29.
