Hill spent nearly 20 years as an actor, working mostly in theater. He appeared in Off Broadway and touring productions of "No Place to Be Somebody," "The Fabulous Miss Marie" and Hamlet."
He was best known for playing gang leader Cyrus in Walter Hill's 1979 cult classic The Warriors. He also portrayed the character of Lil John in the 1974 film The Education of Sonny Carson. In 2005 he filed a lawsuit of $250,000 against Rockstar Games for using his voice and depicting him in the video game based on The Warriors.
