Pedro Armendáriz Jr., a Mexican character actor best known for playing sly, sometimes cynical types, died on Monday in New York City. He was 71.The cause was cancer, said the Mexican government news agency Notimex.
In his career Armendáriz acted in at least 22 telenovelas most recently "LA FUERZA DEL DESTINO", ATREVETA A SONAR and DESTILANDO AMOR AS.
He appeared in more than 100 films, including The Crime of Father Amaro, which became the biggest box-office hit in the history of Mexican film when it was released in 2002.
