1959: CBS aired the 2,000th episode of Search for Tomorrow. The network released a celebratory photo with the following caption: "Mary Stuart, who for nearly eight years has played the stellar role of Joanne Tate on the program, shows off a huge orange cake to makr the 2,000th telecast, May 8, of Search for Tomorrow, the oldest daytime serial in television. Search for Tomorrow is seen on the CBS Television Network Monday through Friday, 12:30-12:45 PM, EDT."

1964: On Another World, Alice (Jacqueline Courtney) told Granny Matthews (Vera Allen) that her parents and Russ drove to Oakdale. Another World was originally planned as a spin-off of CBS' As the World Turns before ending up on NBC.

1967: On Dark Shadows, Barnabas (Jonathan Frid) entered Maggie's (Kathryn Leigh Scott) bedroom through the french doors. He stalked over to her bed and bared his fangs. Jonathan Frid inserted his fangs upside down, appearing more frightening than originally intended.

Daytime alums James Rebhorn, Victoria Mallory, Justin Gocke, Louan Gideon, Dane Witherspoon, Lee Chamberlin, Matthew Cowles and Charles Keating were among the soap actors that passed away this year.

Former 'As the World Turns' and 'Loving' actress Noelle Beck wants $17M for pad bought for $1.6M
Beck is asking $17 million for her six-bedroom Gramercy Park townhouse – a substantial jump from the $1.6 million she and her husband paid in 1997. The townhouse at 243 East 17th Street, between Second and Third avenues, features seven bathrooms, five fireplaces and cast-iron balconies.

This holiday season The Bold and the Beautiful got into “Spirit of Christmas” with a very special original song written by Casey Kaspryzk and Anthony Ferrari especially for the show's Christmas episode, which was taped at The Union Rescue Mission @URM on Los Angeles' Skid Row. Sung by actress Karla Mosley, "Spirit of Season" reminds us that no matter who we are, that the greatest gift is the one we give when we help one another.

EastEnders rose further in the ratings on Monday evening (December 29) and retained its lead over the other soaps, overnight figures show. 8.03 million (32.8%) tuned in at 8 p.m. on BBC One as Mick, Linda and the rest of the Carter family dealt with the aftermath of their dramatic Christmas. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 460k (2.8%) at 10.30 p.m.

THE CARRIE DIARIES "Too Close for Comfort" Sneak Peek, Noelle Beck Returns

The second season of THE CARRIE DIARIES continues on Friday, November 22nd at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

In "Too Close for Comfort," Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) spends an exciting day in the city with playwright Adam Weaver (guest star Chris Wood). Samantha (Lindsey Gort), who booked a new job as a nude art model, takes matters into her own hands when she sees a student's painting she doesn't like.

Revisiting LOVING and Corinth on Thursday's GENERAL HOSPITAL


Former ABC Daytime soap opera LOVING is back! At least it was on Thursday's episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL. Luke (Anthony Geary) and Holly (Emma) arrived at an abandoned mansion as they continued to track Jerry Jacks. It was soon revealed they were in a "small town in Pennsylvania" that had once been in the news because of "The LOVING Murders." It was the Alden mansion from LOVING!

Noelle Beck Joins THE CARRIE DIARIES


AS THE WORLD TURNS and LOVING alum Noelle Beck has been cast in THE CARRIE DIARIES, according to TVLine. She will play Sebastian’s sometimes absentee mother, Ginny, who is described as a woman who flits in and out of her son’s life and isn't afraid to share the intimate details of her romantic life with him.

THE CARRIE DIARIES is a prequel of SEX AND THE CITY, a show Beck also guest starred on in its first season as Mr. Big’s first wife Barbara.

Nadia Dajani is also joining the show as Deb, a feisty woman who begins dating Carrie’s widower dad Tom — but without his daughters’ knowledge.

STORY:
Lily met Holden when he began working as the stable boy at the Walsh estate.  She was an immediately attracted to the brooding Snyder and soon became close with his entire family, including his older sister, Iva (Lisa Brown).  Over the next year and a half it was slowly revealed that Iva was Lily's biological mother, and then later that Iva was adopted (so Holden and Lily weren't actually related).  In a dramatic scene at the Walsh stables, Iva revealed the truth to Lily when she thought her daughter was in danger from Rod (William Fichtner).  Lily fled to Wyoming and Holden followed.

1908: Future DAYS OF OUR LIVES co-creator Ted Corday was born.  He died in 1966 at age 58 leaving his wife, Betty, to take over DAYS.  He was previously the executive producer/director at AS THE WORLD TURNS and directed GUIDING LIGHT and VALIANT LADY.  His son, Ken Corday, is executive producer of DAYS today.

1959: Early NBC Radio soap, ONE MAN'S FAMILY, went off the air after 27 years.

1964: At the end of the very first week of ANOTHER WORLD, Alice told Granny that her parents and Russ drove to Oakdale.  AW was originally planned as a spin-off of ATWT before ending up on NBC.
