Bend Over Daytime: 'Dropping the Soap' Now Streaming

Newly released web series Dropping the Soap goes behind-the-scenes of a daytime soap opera struggling to survive in the new era of television. When Olivia Vanderstein, the new Head of the Network played by Emmy Award-winning Glee star Jane Lynch, wants to shake things up on the long-running soap opera Colliding Lives, she tries every gimmick in the book. The result is a no-holds barred, every-hack-for-himself, fight for survival led by Julian Drake, the soap’s leading star of questionable talent and moral compass, played by Paul Witten.

Lynch's Olivia utters lines like, "You look so handsome, virile, exactly what a soap star needs to be."

“As the TV soap opera itself circles the drain, I love how our crew of self-centered and desperate actors charge ever forward to save their show from the chopping block,” Lynch said in a press release, when the concept of the show was first announced in 2013. “The writing is so sharp and witty as the off-screen shenanigans become almost more absurd than the storylines of Colliding Lives. Simply put, it is pure joy working with this group of hilarious and smart people.”

The show is executive produced by Witten, Lynch, Kate Mines Mandy Fabian and Ellie Kanner.

A number of familiar faces appear during the 10=episode first season including Nadia Bjorlin, Dot-Marie Jones, Dot-Marie Jones, Missi Pyle and Ben Baur.

Nadia Bjorlin Returning to 'Days of our Lives' as Chloe Lane, Once Again a Series Regular

Nadia Bjorlin
Nadia Bjorlin is returning to NBC soap opera Days of our Lives as Chloe Lane, according to Yahoo TV. Chloe has made sporadic visits to Salem this year and will be back for good starting in late spring. Bjorlin signed a contract with the show to become a series regular once again.

Bjorlin debuted on Days in 1999, and is the latest in a string past stars who returned to the show as it celebrated its 50th anniversary this fall, including Peter Reckell as Bo Brady (who was later killed off), Stephen Nichols at Steve Johnson, Thaao Penglis as Andre DiMera, and Martha Madison as Belle Black. Also coming next year, Matthew Ashford is returning for a handful of episodes as Jack Deveraux in May, and Molly Burnett returns as Melanie Jonas in January following a devastating turn of events.

Bjorlin tweeted last month that she’s pregnant with her first child, a son, due in 2016.

After she participated in some of the Days of our Lives: 50 Years book signings with other cast members in November, fans began speculating Bjorlin might be coming back.

She began taping scenes last week for Chloe's return, which will roughly coincide with the birth of Bjorlin's son. The length of Bjorlin's new contract with Days has not yet been revealed.

Are you happy Chloe is on her way back to Salem?

Nadia Bjorlin Returning to DAYS OF OUR LIVES

Nadia Bjorlin is returning to DAYS OF OUR LIVES and the role of Chloe Lane, according to TVGuide.com.  Bjorlin starts taping in September but is not expected to hit the air until January 4, 2013.

TV Guide Magazine: What happens when Chloe returns?
Bjorlin: I have heard she's going to come back as her old self again, the Chloe with good self-esteem, a stronger and more confident Chloe who can really stand up for herself and not be bullied. Toward the end there, she was being bullied by everyone in Salem! No more. She's coming back a lot more mature and who knows? [Laughs] Maybe she'll get some revenge! There are so many possibilities for the character and they've only told me a little bit right now because they don't trust me with the information. It's been very hush-hush. [A Days rep adds that Chloe's return will be heavily centered around her son, Parker.]
