NEWS: NBC Burbank, Olive Pope and Bridgegate; Sync-Watching, Jerry Douglas, Damon Lindelof

A Requiem for NBC Burbank
The sale of the historic location was completed to the Worthe Real Estate Property Group in 2008. At the time, the sale didn’t have much impact as NBC continued to lease back the property while preparations went forward to move operations to nearby Universal Studios. But slowly, over the last five years, things have changed.

Offices emptied out as executives moved over to the Universal lot. The NBC/Universal owned cable networks moved. On July 6th, 2012, the curtain came down on the famous NBC Studio Tour. There simply was nothing more to show a curious public other than nostalgic references of shows no longer in production.

One side of the two elephant doors leading into Studio 4. They're called elephant doors because they are, literally, large enough for an elephant to walk through, but usually they accomodate large sets and vehicles. Decades ago, NBC painted each studio's elephant door to honor iconic programs that were produced on that particular stage.

Just imagine how SCANDAL's Olivia Pope might handle the Chris Christie bridge scandal
"I have one rule, Chris. The truth. I need to know how much damage we’re talking about here. I need to know exactly what kind of bridge you’ve burned. And if you don’t tell me the truth, I’ll burn you. You think you can do that?"

For Couples Split by Distance, Two Screens Can Blink as One
Far-flung lovers once took solace in sharing the same big sky. Now they take it in sharing the little screen. They count down — 3, 2, 1 — to begin “Breaking Bad” at the same second. While Facebook-messaging about it on another slice of the laptop screen. While glimpsing each other’s faces on cellphone video chat.

It's obsessively synchronized media consumption in this age when supposedly every viewer is an island: Sync-watching.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS' Jerry Douglas: 'Michael Muhney Is High Strung & Emotional'
"I watched him work a couple of scenes with Eric Braeden [Victor Newman] and there were a lot of battles that went on there that were unnecessary," Douglas (John) told RumorFix. "Eric is an old pro and does good work. This guy seemed to be high strung and emotional. He would just blow up in the middle of the scene for things that aren’t that important."

Eric Braeden on Michael Muhney: "I Was Prompted To Get Into ‘Fisticuffs’ With Him Because He Wanted Me Off The Show"

Actor Eric Braeden, who has played Victor Newman on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS for the past 33 years, gave a fascinating interview to RadarOnline.com about the Michael Muhney situation. Muhney was fired in December, and TMZ later revealed it was because he allegedly groped co-star Hunter King's breasts.

"The notion that Hunter King came to me and was coaxed by me to go to the top (and get Muhney fired) is utter nonsense," Braeden said.

Below are a few excerpts from the interview:

RadarOnline.com: Sources have told Radar that your relationship with Michael Muhney was contentious at times. Why was it?

Eric Braeden: I welcomed Michael Muhney when he came here. He is a great actor. We did have our differences, but for anyone to say that I had him fired is a lie. I have always thought he was a very good actor and told him so. Towards the end, Muhney and I did have our differences and had a shouting match, no question.

On Tuesday, he followed that tweet up with the following: "...and that quote doesn't only apply to what is being said about ME. It also applies to others. Please be kind to everyone. #respect"

Meanwhile, his former-co-stars are coming out in support of actress Hunter King, who was on the receiving end of some vicious tweets following the TMZ story about Muhney being fired for allegedly groping King's breasts.

Former Y&R EP/Head Writer Maria Bell: Michael Muhney 'Should Have Been Let Go Months Before'

In a new interview with Highlight Hollywood, former THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS executive producer and head writer Maria Arena Bell has clarified a statement she made in Soap Opera Digest about Michael Muhney being fired from her former soap.

Check out her recent statement in Digest below as well as the clarification in Highlight Hollywood.

Soap Opera Digest:
Michael brought amazing dimension and complexity to the role of Adam Newman, and his and Sharon's was a great dark love story. Sadly, that story was seriously derailed in the last year, so I am not surprised that the show would look for a solution to their problematic storytelling decisions. It will be a tough role to recast.
A TMZ report was posted earlier today alleging sexual harassment of a co-star was the real reason for Muhney being fired. Bell had more to say with this new information being made public.

Highlight Hollywood:
Let me be clear. I am a fan of Michael Muhney the actor-not the person. Frankly he should have been let go months before because of his behind the scenes actions.

It's still a loss for the fans. Instead of acting quickly they tried to turn the fans against the character of Adam. Bad move. And they should not recast right away now. It's too damaged.

The only thing that matters in this story-now on TMZ is that a young girl is protected. She should have been all along. People should have been more decisive not less in this matter.

I think they should have taken immediate action. They didn't. Whatever happened, they need to protect the safety of the cast.

Michael Muhney Fired From THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS For 'Allegedly Groping Co-Stars Breasts'

TMZ is reporting the reason Michael Muhney got fired from THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS and the role of Adam Newman was he bullied and harassed a co-star, grabbing her breasts...twice.
Multiple sources connected to the show tell TMZ ... 38-year-old Muhney allegedly bullied and harassed 20-year-old Hunter King, who plays Summer on the show. She went to higher-ups and complained recently Muhney had fondled her breasts on 2 occasions -- and she said both were unsolicited and unwanted.
On December 17, Muhney announced on Twitter that he had been let go from Y&R.

Michael Muhney Leaving THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (Updated)

Michael Muhney announced on Twitter that he has been let go from THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, where he has played Adam Newman since 2009.

"I'm so sorry," he wrote. "It breaks my heart to say this, but I was just let go from Y&R. My last day on set is this Thursday. My last air date will be Jan 30th. I'm going to take some private time with my wife & kids, as I am most concerned for their well-being…I have 3 final episodes to film, and because they are my last, I will be giving it everything I have. More details will follow... #xoxoxo"

Muhney took over the role of Adam from Chris Engen, who abruptly left the show in 2009.

Coincidentally, Billy Miller's will also air for the last time as Billy Abbott on January 30, 2014. Billy and Adam were recently voted the two favorite characters in our fan survey about the state of Y&R.

UPDATE:
I'm hearing there is much more to this story than simply an actor being dismissed for the usual reasons (storyline dictated, change of direction, etc.). Fans have been blaming executive producer Jill Farren Phelps but did this decision come from way above her head? She may not have had a say in the matter.
