Kimberlin Brown and Antonio Sabato Jr. Come Up Short in Congressional Bids

Kimberlin Brown Pelzer, best known her for portrayal of the evil Sheila Carter on The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless, came up short in her bid to unseat Congressman Raul Ruiz in California's 36th district. Brown Pelzer received 44,416 votes (43.6%) during Tuesday's midterm election against the Democratic incumbent. Meanwhile, former General Hospital and Bold and the Beautiful actor Antonio Sabato Jr. garnered 65,894 votes (40.6%) but lost handily to Rep. Julia Brownley, who was seeking another term in the House.

During the campaign Brown Pelzer accused Ruiz of using a "partisan playbook," calling him a D.C. insider with close ties to special interest groups. She repeated the message of her most recent television advertisement, calling Ruiz the “lap dog” of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Meanwhile, Sabato Jr. was a vocal supporter of President Trump on the campaign trail. He rose to political prominent when he spoke at the 2016 Republican National Convention.

Congressman Raul Ruiz Tosses "Bold and Beautiful Idea" at Challenger Kimberlin Brown Pelzer

Republican Kimberlin Brown Pelzer (The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless) came out swinging in the only televised debate with incumbent Democratic Congressman Raul Ruiz, co-hosted Tuesday night by NBC Palm Springs and The Desert Sun.

She accused Ruiz of using a "partisan playbook," calling him a D.C. insider with close ties to special interest groups. She repeated the message of her most recent television advertisement, calling Ruiz the “lap dog” of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Decrying today’s politics as “toxic,” Ruiz called for civility during the evening's debate. But after Brown Pelzer tried to paint him as a typical Democrat for his support of the Affordable Care Act, Ruiz wrapped his opposition to a single-payer health care system and his support for public-private health care partnerships in a reference to Brown Pelzer’s soap opera background.

“How about this bold and beautiful idea -- how about in the greatest country that this world has ever known that we ... take care of people who are sick and who are injured -- that nobody in America will go without care simply because they can't afford it," he said, taking a subtle jab at Brown Pelzer, who played a Nurse Sheila Carter on the CBS soap opera The Bold and The Beautiful.

'Bold and Beautiful' Actress Kimberlin Brown Advances in California Primary (CA-36)

On Tuesday, Kimberlin Brown Pelzer, who has famously played soap villain Sheila Carter on both The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless over the years, advanced in the race to represent California's 36th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Democratic U.S. House member Raul Ruiz garnered nearly 55 percent of the vote, while Republican challenger Brown Pelzer received nearly 23 percent. In California, the top two vote-getters advance to the November election regardless of party.

Brown Pelzer faces an uphill battle to replace the incumbent in Congress but was clearly excited to have passed the first big test of her political career.

Upon receiving a phone call about the result, Brown Pelzer fist-pumped and exclaimed, "Boom!"

'The Bold and the Beautiful' Star Kimberlin Brown Running for Congress

Actress and avocado entrepreneur Kimberlin Brown Pelzer, who plays Sheila Carter on CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, announced this morning that she will be running for a seat in Congress.

Brown posted the folllowing message on her Facebook page, “I’m thrilled to announce that I’m running for Congress in California’s 36th District! I’d appreciate it if you’d visit my website to learn more about my campaign and share this post with your friends to help spread the word. Thank you! http://kimberlinforcongress.com #TeamKimberlin”

Congressional District 36 covers large portions of eastern Riverside County, California. The district extends from Hemet east to Blythe and covers most of the desert communities including Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Indio, Coachella, Rancho Mirage, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, and Cathedral City in the Inland Empire.

Sheila Spills the Beans to Eric on 'The Bold and the Beautiful'

Monday's episode of The Bold and the Beautiful featured a powerful final scene in which Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) revealed to Eric (John McCook) that she believed Quinn was having an affair with Ridge.

"I think your wife is having an affair with your own son," Sheila told her ex-husband.

Needless to say, Eric did not take it well. He threw a glass across the room, smashing it into bits.

Sheila Is Back on 'The Bold and the Beautiful'

On Friday's episode of CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, Katie was bombarded with questions from Lt. Baker as the prime suspect of the threats against Quinn. Meanwhile, Quinn encountered an unfamiliar women, who was very familiar to viewers.

"Uh, who are you?" Quinn asked.

As the woman turned around, one of soap's great villains turned around.

"Sheila," said actress Kimberlin Brown, who played the role of Sheila Carter on The Young and the Restless (starting in 1990) before moving over to B&B (in 1992).

A list of people who will speak when Donald Trump is nominated for president at the Republican National Convention next week has been released, and it includes former soap opera stars Kimberlin Brown and Antonio Sabato Jr. Brown is best known for portraying villain Sheila Carter on both The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Sabato Jr. played Jagger Cates on General Hospital and Dante Damiano on B&B.

“As a small business person we can’t afford any longer to provide health insurance,” Brown told the Women in Business for Trump coalition in May. She told the crowd that while her business used to provide it, that they no longer afford to do so. Brown also told the audience how badly the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has “sold out Hollywood.” She continued, “how about ‘American lives matter’? NAFTA truly affected the entertainment industry.” Brown added that “the drug cartels are using the farming industry to smuggle drugs.”

Tom Sizemore & Kimberlin Brown Star In '5 Hour Friends': How You Can Help This Indie Film With Distribution

Indie film 5 Hour Friends, starring Tom Sizemore and Kimberlin Brown, has been picked up for distribution in a few foreign countries, received a VOD offer, and been shown at eight film festivals where it won three awards. But a theatrical release has been more than elusive.

From 905 Productions, Ron Jackson wrote the screenplay for 5 Hour Friends and co-produced the film with his brother, Wayne Jackson. The movie is about Timothy Bonner, a middle-aged golfer and lifelong womanizer, played by Tom Sizemore, best known for his role in films such as Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor and Natural Born Killers. Kimberlin Brown, who played Sheila Carter on both THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS and THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, plays his love interest.
