Ken Howard Dead at 71

Actor Ken Howard, who was the current SAG-AFTRA President, died on Wednesday, March 23. He was 71.

No cause of death has been announced for Howard, best known for his lead role of Ken Reeves in the groundbreaking CBS drama The White Shadow. Howard won both a Daytime and Primetime Emmy Award during his career.

Howard's widow Linda wrote on Instagram: "My heart is broken, but the onslaught of love and admiration for Ken are of great comfort. He was my "Big Dog" and I have experienced what real love truly is. Thank you all for your calls, emails, texts and postings. It means the world. Need to take a bit of time, but wanted everyone to know I'm okay and oh so grateful to you all."

Howard played Garrett Boydston on Dynasty and The Colbys; George Summers on The Young and the Restless; and George Andrews on Melrose Place. His numerous other credits Cane, Crossing Jordan, The Practice, It's Not Easy, The Manhunter, Adam's Rib and Murder, She Wrote.

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood joins ARROW pilot
According to Green Arrow TV, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood has just signed on to play Sarah Lance in the new CW pilot ARROW. Wood is best known for her role as Steffy Forrester in the CBS soap THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL.

Since Wood won’t be leaving the CBS soap, it’s presumed that she will have a guest starring role in the pilot. Wood confirmed her role to play Sarah Lance via a tweet.

Y&R Casting News: Ken Howard & Signy Coleman To Appear In February

TV Guide Magazine is reporting that two-time Emmy winner Ken Howard will appear on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as George, the long-estranged dad of battling sibs Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Avery (Jessica Collins). He starts shooting at Y&R on January 19 and will begin a four-episode arc February 23.

Howard is best known to TV fans for his role as Ken Reeves on THE WHITE SHADOW in the late 1970s. He also ran a run on THE COLBYS (Season 1) and DYNASTY (a blast from Dominique's past). He is currently serving as SAG National President.

In other Y&R news, Signy Coleman will be making another appearance as Hope in February.
