John Reilly Returning To GENERAL HOSPITAL

John Reilly returns to ABC's GENERAL HOSPITAL as Sean Donely on Friday, August 9.

Reilly played Sean from 1984-1994 and again in 2008 on GENERAL HOSPITAL: NIGHT SHIFT.

He has also starred in several other soaps including as Dan Stewart on AS THE WORLD TURNS (1974-1976), Del Douglas on SUNSET BEACH (1997-1998), and Alistair Crane on PASSIONS (2005-2008). He has also appeared in primetime soaps DALLAS, DYNASTY, PAPER DOLLS and BEVERLY HILLS, 90210.

In 2012 Reilly joined the cast of indie soap THE BAY in the recurring role of Mortimer, the Garrett family butler.

Dark and spooky Chapter 9 of THE BAY began on Thursday with John Reilly (GENERAL HOSPITAL; PASSIONS) debuting as the Garrett’s sage butler, Mortimer. Michael Swan (AS THE WORLD TURNS) returns as the irate hotel manager Buck Stanton and Fiona Hutchison (GUIDING LIGHT; ONE LIFE TO LIVE) as the sultry and determined Emma Cambridge.

Sara Garrett (Mary Beth Evans) sees a ghost from her past as Steve Jensen (Matthew Ashford) pays an unexpected visit to the Garrett estate. Peter Garrett (Kristos Andrews) is determined to warn his brother Brian (Dylan Bruce) though he may be too late!

John Reilly Joins The Cast Of THE BAY

John Reilly, best known for his role as Sean Donely on ABC's GENERAL HOSPITAL, has joined the cast of THE BAY in the recurring role of Mortimer, the Garrett butler.

Described as the gatekeeper and glue that holds the dysfunctional Garretts together, creator Gregori J. Martin says "Mortimer is to the Garretts what Jiminy Cricket is to Pinocchio!"

After giving birth to Emily and divorcing Dan to marry Bruce Baxter, Susan found herself unhappy in the marriage and divorced Bruce. Thereafter, Susan spent the rest of the 1970s on AS THE WORLD TURNS trying to win Dan back. But Dan had turned his attentions to Kim, who was trying to escape her loveless marriage to John after giving birth to Andy.

John and Susan, however, stopped at nothing to keep Dan and Kim apart. Kim had left John but lost her memory as a result of an injury incurred in a windstorm, and John convinced her that she should return to him. Kim ultimately regained her memory, and left an answering machine message for Dan telling him that she remembered that she loved him. However, Susan stole the tape and Dan didn't get the message. True love won out, and Dan and Kim ultimately married, but their happiness was short-lived as Dan died of a brain tumor in 1979.
