Watch 'The Young and the Restless' Star Jess Walton's Heart Disease PSA

Did you know that cardiovascular diseases cause one in three women's deaths each year, killing approximately one woman every minute? February is American Heart Month, and CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless worked with the American Heart Association on a new storyline about women's heart disease, which is the number one killer of women in the United States.

In Thursday's episode of Y&R, original character Jill Abbott Atkinson (now played by Daytime Emmy winner Jess Walton) was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack.

Following the episode, a “CBS Cares” PSA featuring Jess Walton ran, encouraging viewers to visit American Heart Association’s heart.org to learn how to manage risks and recognize the warning signs of a heart attack.

Watch the PSA below.

Empire ratings dip in the fast nationals but still huge
FOX's Empire scored 13.7 million viewers and a 5.4 adults 18-49 rating (last week 16.2 million, 6.7 rating). ABC's Nashville was steady with 4.8 million viewers and a 1.2 A18-49 rating (last week 4.9 million, 1.2 rating).

I Ain’t No Snitch: The Worst Thing You Can Do on Empire Is Tell the Truth
Writes Dave Schilling: "It’s not a stretch to call the characters on Empire duplicitous. This is a soap opera, after all. On soaps, people lie like dogs lick themselves: whenever they have a free moment and a bit of privacy. But other than The Sopranos, I can’t think of a series more preoccupied with the unassailable benefit of deceit and the code of the streets. Lies, and the consequences of duplicity, are the fuel that makes this show move forward."

FX releases American Horror Story: Hotel poster
Writes Chris Harnick: "American Horror Story: Hotel has released its character poster featuring the tenants and employees of the creepy hotel at the center of the series. There's Lady Gaga's The Countess with her hair–dress combo, Angela Bassett's Ramona looking fierce, Kathy Bates' Iris tending the desk (probably plotting something nefarious), Matt Bomer and Finn Wittrock looking pretty damn fine, creepy kids, Denis O'Hare in a dress and so much more. We'll leave you alone for a few minutes to stare at the image."

Robert Knepper joins Twin Peaks
Knepper has been tapped for a recurring role on the new season for Showtime alongside fellow new addition Amanda Seyfried.

The Fosters star Sherri Saum to guest on How to Get Away with Murder
A HTGAWM rep confirmed Saum's casting, but declined to provide any details about her character. Saum previously starred in daytime soaps One Life to Live and Sunset Beach.

Rob Lowe on The Grinder, Why Network Comedies Can Compete With Cable, and the Objectification of Men
"We did a whole sequence of why he left The Grinder. And the reason he left is he felt objectified. People go on and on about the objectification of women, and rightly so. But what about the objectification of men? When was the last time you saw Grey’s Anatomy? So what I love about this show is these wry, insightful looks at contemporary culture in entertainment as seen through the eyes of a regular Idaho family because they have a conduit to it in my character."

HBO denies racy Westworld casting notice came from them, vows to rectify it
Background players on HBO’s Westworld have had to sign consent forms agreeing to participate in “graphic sexual situations”, including “genital-to-genital touching” and posing “on all fours while others who are fully nude ride on your back”. But HBO said the "document that the background actors were given was created by an outside extras casting vendor."

HBO’s statement comes after my colleague David Robb reported today that a rare explicit casting requirement resulted in the rare step of a SAG-AFTRA representative being on the set to monitor the situation and make sure it conformed to the union’s Television Agreement.

Genes medical soap based on a Michael Crichton script set at CBS as put pilot

Making things more complicated, the doctor begins to fall madly in love with her.

British soap Emmerdale to air "Who Shot Robert Sugden?" flashback episode
In case you missed it, Robert got his just desserts after killing his brother Andy’s wife earlier this year, and it didn’t take long for a mystery character to decide that they’d had enough of his nasty ways - shooting him in the chest and leaving him fighting for life.

Rob Morrow and Kellli Williams join The Fosters
Williams will play Justina, a well-connected foster-care specialist who proposes a significant investment in Callie’s “Fost and Found” website. Morrow will play Will, a liberal-minded free-spirit who is introduced to the Adams Foster family through Stef’s mom, Sharon, played by Annie Potts.

Adam Rodriguez joins Jane the Virgin
The CSI: Miami alum will recur as Jane's critical writing professor.

Serial podcast is becoming a TV drama series
Chris Miller and Phil Lord — the duo behind The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street and The Last Man on Earth — have optioned the rights to make a cable drama that would follow the making of the NPR podcast as it takes on a case. The Hae Min Lee case won’t, however, be part of the proposed TV series.

David Anders to return to Once Upon a Time as Dr. Whale, AKA Victor Frankenstein
The iZombie star tweeted that “The Doctor Will Be In."

The Young and the Restless star Jess Walton remains humble
Writes Roger Bluhm: "Most people who achieve fame remain humble. Jess Walton, the actress who played Patricia and married Buck Taylor's character, had me laughing hard in my interview with her prior to Wild West Fest. She was on a layover at an airport in Portland, Oregon and we talked for almost an hour. She's spent 30 years playing the same character on a soap opera and knows she's been fortunate in her career."

Jess Walton
Jess Walton happy to be back at The Young and the Restless "for good"
“I’m ready to be back,” declares the actress, who returned on Thursday's episode as Jill. “I feel re-energized and it’s so nice to be with my Y&R family again. I really missed them."

The Oregon-based actress reveals she requested the time away from the show. “I asked to take break,” she says. “Where I live, the winters are so long and the summers are very short, so I just wanted time off to relax and really enjoy my beautiful home. It was wonderful.” Look for her to stick around. "As far as I’m concerned, Jill is back for good and ready to deal with whatever comes!” assures Walton.

Downton Abbey “superfan” Queen Elizabeth II likes to pick out the show’s mistakes
Brian Hoey, author of "At Home With The Queen," tells People: “She loves to pick out the mistakes. They do tend to get it right. However, the Queen did notice on one episode that there was a young so-called British officer wearing medals which had not been awarded when he was supposed to be alive. He was fighting in the First World War and the medals on his chest did not come in until the Second World War."

The Bold and the Beautiful alum Kristolyn Lloyd cast in Broadway's "Invisible Thread"
The cast is now set for the New York premiere of "Invisible Thread." The new musical will star its co-creator Griffin Matthews, off-Broadway alums Nicolette Robinson and Kristolyn Lloyd as Eden (reprising her role from the Massachusetts run) and Grace, respectively, and more. The show, written by Matthews and Matt Gould and directed by Tony winner Diane Paulus, will begin on October 31 at Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theatre. Opening night is set for December 2.

B.B. King Dead at 89; "King of the Blues" Legend Guest-Starred on 'The Young and the Restless' and 'General Hospital'

B.B. King
B.B. King, known as "King of the Blues," has died at age 89.

King, whose hits included "My Lucille," "Sweet Little Angel" and "Rock Me Baby," died in his sleep in Las Vegas.

Born in Mississippi, King began performing in the 1940s, going on to influence a generation of musicians.

Once ranked as the third greatest guitarist of all time, he had been suffering ill health in recent months. He was recently taken to hospital with a diabetes-related illness.

One of his many television appearances over the years was April 9, 2001, on The Young and the Restless. In the episode, Sean (David Lee Russek) takes Jill (Jess Walton) to the Crow's Nest, where they listen to a surprise performance by B.B. King. When Sean tells Jill that she is a vibrant woman, she thinks it's a come on. Sean tells her it's not unless she wants it to be.

He also performed on General Hospital on February 3-4, 1995 at the opening of Luke's club. Watch his appearance below:

The Death of Delia Abbott: What's Wrong With 'The Young and the Restless'?

Y&R has featured memorable performances from
Sophie Pollono (Delia) and Billy Miller (Billy).
I've avoided writing about the death of Cordelia "Delia" Katherine Valentine Abbott on The Young and the Restless because it has been hard to watch and process. For me, we can debate whether soaps (or TV shows in general) should kill off children or not, but that's not my biggest beef with this decision. There are examples from soap history where a child died and a story was powerful and memorable and had a lasting impact (Maxie getting BJ's heart on General Hospital comes to mind). That's what I want to see on my stories. My biggest complaint with Y&R right now is that the Delia story is just another example of how bad the top-rated daytime drama has become of late. And based on recent history, there's no reason to believe the Delia storyline will end up any different than the other fizzled plots in Genoa City this year. If you can't write a proper sendoff for the great Katherine Chancellor (played by the late Jeanne Cooper) that lasts months and impacts the entire canvas, what can you do?
