Jensen Buchanan Arrested Again After Monitor Detects Alcohol (Updated)

Buchanan is scheduled to be arraigned on the probation-violation charge Thursday in Santa Maria Superior Court.
She initially was arrested following a two-car crash on Highway 154 near Live Oak Camp, where she was driving the wrong way on May 18, 2016, the California Highway Patrol said.
The driver of the other vehicle, Bradley Asolas, who now lives in Arizona, suffered major injuries and had to be extricated from his vehicle.
He spent more than 30 days in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and continues his recovery from the various injuries more than a year later, he told the court.

Jensen Buchanan Sentenced to One Year in County Jail

Buchanan pleaded guilty last month to driving under the influence causing injury, felony DUI with a blood alcohol content of over 0.08 causing injury, plus special allegations after Judge James Voysey indicated he would follow probation's recommendations and not send her to prison.
On Friday, Arizona residents Bradley Asolas and his wife, Sandy, also urged the judge to impose the maximum sentence.
“Even though I didn’t die that day, in a very real sense she took away my life, because now I am going to die sooner than I probably would have,” Asolas said.
At the time of the crash, Asolas was heading to work in Santa Maria, commuting from his brother’s house in Camarillo.
His active and healthy life before the crash has become one filled with pain and medical appointments as his body recovers from a lengthy list of injuries.
Buchanan appeared on numerous soap operas over nearly three decades, including appearances most recently on The Young and the Restless (as Elise), and previously on One Life to Live (Sarah), Another World (Vicky), As the World Turns (Vicky) and General Hospital (Melissa).

Jensen Buchanan Pleads Guilty to DUI Charges, Faces a Year of More in Jail

Buchanan originally pleaded not guilty in October after being charged with DUI causing injury, and felony DUI with a blood alcohol content of over 0.08 causing injury, plus special allegations.
Her possible sentence could include five years of probation plus up to 365 days in County Jail.
Judge James Voysey reminded Buchanan that the sentence was conditional, meaning that it may change after the court hears about victim Bradley Asolas' medical conditions during the sentencing hearing set for October 6.
Asolas and his wife, Sandy, said they were shocked and appalled at the outcome of Friday's hearing.
"I think it's wrong. My life's forever changed, and she got off with a slap on the wrist," Asolas said. "When I drive now, I always wonder, if I'm involved in a crash again where the airbags break out and my heart gives out again, I can actually die this time."

Jensen Buchanan Preliminary Hearing Rescheduled for August

Buchanan will next return to court for the preliminary hearing on August 18 in Santa Maria before Judge Gustavo Lavayen.
Authorities have said Buchanan was driving with a blood alcohol level of .34 at the time of the 6:20 a.m. crash on Highway 154 near the Live Oak Camp on May 18, 2016.
California Highway Patrol officers from Buellton said Buchanan, the driver of a Mercedes S550, was eastbound on Highway 154 and allowed her vehicle to drift across the double yellow line directly into the path of a Ford C-Max traveling west.
The other driver, Bradley Asolas, who now lives in Arizona, suffered major injuries and had to be extricated from his vehicle.
He spent more than 30 days in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and continues his recovery from the various injuries more than a year later.
Buchanan faces several charges, including felony driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, and felony driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 percent or greater.
She also is charged with causing great bodily injury to Asolas, and an allegation her blood-alcohol level exceeded .15 percent.
Buchanan appeared on numerous soap operas over nearly three decades, including appearances most recently on The Young and the Restless (as Elise), and previously on One Life to Live (Sarah), Another World (Vicky), As the World Turns (Vicky) and General Hospital (Melissa).

Buchanan, 54, was not in the Santa Maria courtroom for Friday morning’s brief hearing before visiting Judge Barry Hammer.
Defense attorney Meryl Chambers asked for the continued arraignment hearing on behalf of her client
Deputy District Attorney Tiffany Dix told the judge she did not object to the request, adding that she believes the next hearing will involve either a disposition of the case or the defendant entering a not-guilty plea.
She also requested the judge order Buchanan to attend the next hearing, which Hammer did.
With a blood-alcohol level allegedly more than four times the legal limit, Buchanan faces several charges, including felony driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and felony driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 percent or greater.
She also is charged with causing great bodily injury to Bradley Asolas, 56, of Camarillo, and an allegation her blood-alcohol level exceeded .15 percent.

Jensen Buchanan Crashes Into Another Car, Arrested For Possible DUI

In the report, CHP says the driver of a 2016 black Mercedes S550, identified as 53-year-old Los Angeles resident Jensen Buchanan, a soap opera actress, was traveling eastbound on Highway 154 when she allowed her car to drift across the solid double yellow line, and directly into the path of a white Ford C-Max.
Both drivers were taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ambulance. Buchanan was treated for minor injuries while the driver of the Ford, 56-year-old Camarillo resident Bradley Asolas, was treated for major injuries.

“We’re excited to bring to the viewers these remastered episodes with never before seen footage,” explains creator Gregori J. Martin. “The show will have a new starting point, and we hope the viewers will binge watch the series to learn the whole story.”
With plans to shoot the 2nd half of the latter season, The Bay goes into production on six brand new episodes in May.

Joining the cast in the role of the mayor’s ex-wife and son John Blackwell’s (Ronn Moss) late mother is Carolyn Hennesy (General Hospital, True Blood, Revenge). Brandon Beemer (Days of our Lives) will fill the role of a younger John Blackwell as Jensen Buchanan (The Young and the Restless, Another World) undertakes the role of Melody Garrett circa 1986. Marissa Tait (The Bold and the Beautiful) joins the cast as Young Katherine Blackwell while Eric Martsolf and Abby Wathen return in their roles as Young Lee and Young Sara. Additional casting news will be released prior to production.
In the new episodes, viewers can also expect to see Sara Garrett’s (Mary Beth Evans) misery in prison continue with the returns of Indie Series Awards winner Kym Whitley as cellblock bully “Big Candi” and Patsy Pease as lunatic “Lola Baker.” After leaving heartbroken bride Vivian Johnson (Karrueche Tran) at the altar, golden boy Pete Garrett (Kristos Andrews) faces his own dilemmas as he conspires to free his imprisoned mother while dealing with the news of his beloved Janice Ramos’ (Indie Series Awards winner Lilly Melgar) brutal rape. "I was really honored that Young and Restless would come to me and say, ‘Do you want to do this part?’ “ Buchanan tells Digest. “I wasn’t exactly playing hard to get. I was just kind of retired and was sort of finished with that chapter in my life."
Buchanan began her career at One Life to Live, where she played Sarah Gordon Buchanan. She moved to Another World in 1991 to replace Anne Heche in the role of twins Vicky and Marley Hudson. She played Vicky for the show's final eight years, then reprised the character on As the World Turns.
