Jeff Branson, Laura Vandervoort Join Cast of 'Supergirl'; Blake Berris to Guest Star

Jeff Branson
Things are about to get even more interesting in National City, with the DC Comics characters Indigo and Master Jailer set to debut on the super hero thriller Supergirl (Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS), which was recently named Favorite New TV Drama at the 2016 People's Choice Awards.

Laura Vandervoort, who played Kara/Supergirl on the long-running hit drama series Smallville, has been tapped for the recurring role of Indigo, described by producers as a living, strong-willed supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, Indigo will let nothing stand in her way.

Jeff Branson, who played Shayne Lewis on Guiding Light and Ronan Malloy on The Young and the Restless, has been cast in the recurring role of Master Jailer. As the forceful and unrelenting jail guard on Fort Rozz, Master Jailer showed no mercy. Now on Earth, he is hellbent on catching all of the Fort Rozz escapees and brutally bringing them to justice.

The announcement was made today during Warner Bros. Television's Supergirl session at the Television Critics Association Winter 2016 Press Tour on the Warner Bros. Studios lot.

Meanwhile, Blake Berris will guest star on the February 15 episode as Gabriel.  Berris played Nick Fallon on Days of our Lives.

Using Soap Operas, Cooking Classes To Fight Diabetes
When researchers tried to introduce a healthier diet and lifestyle to a group of adults at risk for developing diabetes in Lawrence, Massachusetts, a primarily low-income city that’s 60% Latino, and where only about half the population is fluent in English, they tried to meet people just where they were.

That meant screening a “telenovela,” a Spanish soap opera, about a diabetic mom named Martha and her at-risk daughter Sandra, that detailed the fears and challenges of the disease while introducing healthier food choices and busting pervasive misconceptions.

Anne Marie Howard: Crying Teeth
"I'm an actress, and when we met I was playing Nicole Love on the soap opera, ANOTHER WORLD. During our first few months together, my contract ended and a new job opportunity came up that I couldn't refuse. I would be taking over the role of Kimberly Brady-Donovan on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Only this NBC series taped in Burbank, California. Peter and I dated for three months before I left for the west coast. It was a whirlwind romance, with endless bottles of Clos du Bois Chardonnay and expensive dinners at the best restaurants. He asked me to marry him during one of these meals, in-between our entrées and dessert. We had a lot of fun, flying back and forth, planning our wedding. Six months after we met, we were married at one of our favorite restaurants in Manhattan."
