Indie Soap Award-winning HUSTLING has started production on Season 4. Yes! Has Sebastian La Cause, winner in the Lead Actor category at The ISAs the past two years, gone blonde? Stay tuned for updates as production progresses.

Departing THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS Emmy-winning actress Michelle Stafford has posted a teaser for her upcoming Indie satire THE STAFFORD PROJECT. On July 28, she took to Twitter to answer fan questions about the series. She described the show as a "comedy web series about an actress named Michelle Stafford who tries 2 juggle everything as it continuously blows up in her face."

When asked how many episodes are planned, she replied, "8 so far!! Hopefully in the long run 88!!"

MY SYNTHESIZED LIFE creator Nate Golon gave us the scoop on his show's next episode. Fan favorite actors Nicolas Coster and Cindy Pickett  debut on Tuesday in Episode #3.  Thanks, Nate, for this preview photo!

Coster has starred in just about every daytime soap opera including SANTA BARBARA, AS THE WORLD TURNS and ANOTHER WORLD. He was nominated for an Indie Soap Award in 2012 for his work on THE BAY. Pickett has starred in GUIDING LIGHT, ST. ELSEWHERE and, of course, as Ferris Bueller's mom. We Love Soaps spoke with Pickett last year just before she was about the shoot her first scenes in her first web series. She told us about meeting with Golon and being sold right away.

Nate Golon's notable new comedy MY SYNTHESIZED LIFE premiered this week with two episodes. Brent Bailey is pitch perfect as Jimmy Bales, a 25 year old man whose voice naturally synthesizes after getting electrocuted by his car radio. With sharp guest appearances from actors like Sean Hemeon (HUSBANDS), Marissa Jaret Winokur ("Hairspray"), Marie Wilson (AS THE WORLD TURNS) and Barrett Foa (NCIS), this show has the star power. But does it make you laugh? The answer is a resounding, "Yes," especially the beach phone call scene in the Episode #2.  In fact, not a flat note from the Nate Golon series so far.  Check out the second episode below:

Sean Willis' upcoming web seriesTHE WALKING TEDD just passed the $4,000 mark in their Kickstarter campaign. The show is a heart-warming comedy about a zombie teddy bear that may make you rethink your favorite childhood stuffed animal. Derek Stusynski, Sofia Regan, Ashton Swinford, Cherami Leigh, Kylie Sparks, Brett Johnson, DeVille Vannik, Trey Munden, Beau Wirick, Steven French, John French and Brooke Coleman star. A reliable source tells me that big news is ahead for one Indie series.  This news could possibly change the face of how you watch scripted drama!  My source says a press release is in the works with all the exciting details!

ANACOSTIA and ANYONE BUT ME made brief-but-beautiful appearances Tuesday evening up on the big screen at Landmark Sunshine Cinema (on the Lower East Side). A choice excerpt of each (about thirty seconds or so long) appears in the soon-to-be-released documentary Soap Life, which mentioned several Indies as a way of illustrating alternatives to network, daytime dramas.

This is the best part of my job.

Some series I cover because they're the Big Thing Right Now. Some, because they provide solid "teaching moments" for others in the industry. Some, I would even admit, I mention because I'm in love with the showrunner.

But the best is that rare occasion when I get to boost an Indie I would watch obsessively on my own, even if I were an accountant, or a cat groomer, and not a web series guru. (You didn't know I was a web series guru, did you?) When I'm 100% honest with myself, there aren't all that many - the ones I would look forward to even if (and it's almost impossible to imagine) I didn't really like web series.

Samsung wants to give one lucky Indie $300,000!

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and the NYTVF have launched a landmark partnered initiative providing indie producers and production companies with the opportunity to compete for a guaranteed production budget of $300,000 to create an original short series with accompanying second screen material. The winning selection and subsequent series will debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2013 and will then be exclusively distributed via Samsung Smart TVs and Galaxy devices.

ARIANNE ZUCKER: "Drama, drama, drama on the set."

DEVANITY, that luscious, lurid nexus of glamour, drama, and camp, has been shooting scenes with soap heavy-hitters Arianne Zucker, Kyle Lowder and Charlene Tilton for season 3 (enjoy our exclusive photos from the set). Showrunner Michael Caruso predicts we'll see a trailer "late September, early October" and promises big, beefy episodes with running times of around 22 minutes each - or longer.

I just happened to be chatting with Arianne on the phone Friday evening, and so I turned the conversation to DEVANITY.  How did it go?

Showrunner Brad Bell is hellbent on giving us as much season two goodness as he possibly can, and fans have been responding splendidly to the notion that - in addition to earning more traditional incentives such as autographed photos and TV paraphernalia - the more money we give, the more show we're going to get.

Kevin's Indie House wasn't "in de house" last week because Kevin was on duty for the 39th Annual Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards.  Aside from a nice little LA chat with Gloria Allred (I get around) the most jazzy part of my most recent adventure on The Lesser Coast was being present for the presentation of the Emmy for the obscure (but groundbreaking) Outstanding Special Class Short Format Daytime (OSCSFD) category.

Yes, Virginia, there IS an Emmy for Indies!

As I publish this column tonight, the cast and crew of LUNCH BREAK have gathered together at an undisclosed location in order to view their disgusting new series together, for the first time. No doubt they're wallowing in the gratuitous raunch they've created, even as you read this. Well! I hope they're proud of themselves.
