'East Los High" One Hour Finale to Air This Fall on Hulu

Hulu has renewed East Los High for a final 60-minute event, titled East Los High: Finale Event, set to air this fall.

The long-awaited return of East Los High arrives with a finale event that bids farewell to the Emmy-nominated Hulu original. Season four of East Los High left fans on the edge of their seats with the most shocking cliffhangers in the show's history. Eight months later - the crew prepare to leave high school behind and maybe even East LA as they begin a journey of self-discovery and learn the true meaning of love, family and friendship in this romantic, sexy and emotional series finale.

East Los High, a Wise Entertainment production created by Kathleen Bedoya and Carlos Portugal, first premiered in 2013 and has since aired four seasons on Hulu. By featuring underrepresented voices and bringing awareness to issues relevant to the Latino community, the series provides a realistic account of Latino youth culture in the U.S. today. East Los High: Finale Event pays tribute to the popular characters fans have followed during the past four seasons, reminding us that their universal stories will continue to grow, prosper and transcend.

The finale event will be directed by Katie Elmore Mota and Carlos Reza and written by Kathleen Bedoya, Luisa Leschin and Cris Franco.

Katie Elmore Mota and Mauricio Mota of Wise Entertainment will executive produce along with creator and executive producer Kathleen Bedoya.

Hulu Highlights Premieres & Coming Attractions at TCA 2013

The following shows were highlighted by Hulu on Wednesday during their Television Critics Association presentation:

THE AWESOMES - Premieres: August 1, 2013

THE AWESOMES is an animated show for adults that combines the thrills of comic book storytelling with the irreverent and inspired comedy that is the hallmark of show co-creators Seth Meyers (SNL) and Michael Shoemaker (LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON). It is the story about the greatest superhero team in history, The Awesomes, and what happens after all the most powerful members leave. The team is led by the possibly under-qualified Professor Doctor Awesome, voiced by Meyers, who is determined to bring these funny-if-flawed superheroes to glory. Meyers and Shoemaker called upon their many friends in the comedy world to voice the characters, including Rashida Jones, Ike Barinholtz, Josh Meyers and some of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE's most celebrated cast and alumni Kenan Thompson, Bill Hader, Emily Spivey, Bobby Moynihan, Taran Killam, Rachel Dratch and Paula Pell. This first animated Hulu Original Series is executive produced by Meyers, Shoemaker, and Broadway Video.

NEWS: Hulu Accepting Final Bids; Robert Newman Explores Dark Side; MAD MEN The Soap; OWN-ing Up

Hulu Deadline for Final Bids Arrives: Keep an Eye on DirecTV
Hulu and its corporate parents are accepting final bids for the online video service on Friday, and according to several individuals close to the process the field has whittled down to three companies: Guggenheim Digital Media, Chernin Entertainment/AT&T and DirecTV.

But keep your eye on DirecTV.

Here's why: Chernin is bidding with AT&T, but the telecom giant is driving that bid, according to one knowledgeable individual. Hulu management is apparently wary of being owned by AT&T.

NEWS: Hulu's Future; Maura West Making Waves on GH; MAD MEN Finale; Andrew Trischitta

Hulu Faces a Nebulous Future as It Seeks a New Owner
Hulu, the Web streaming service that is jointly owned by the Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal, and News Corporation, is up for sale. And each of the potential buyers brings with it a different vision of what Hulu should become.

The interested parties include Time Warner Cable, DirecTV, the Chernin Group — an investment firm owned by the former News Corporation president Peter Chernin — and two private equity firms, Guggenheim Digital Media and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts.

Web sites change hands all the time, but Hulu’s sale could signal something more fundamental: the end — at least in its current form — of one of the pioneers of online streaming, which in recent years has become an increasingly popular way to view content.

Depending on the buyer, Hulu could be used to foster the further growth of online streaming as an alternative to the cable TV bundle. Or the site could be kept under lock and key, exclusively for the use of cable subscribers.

Springfield native Maura West is making waves
on ABC's GENERAL HOSPITAL
When producers contacted West’s agent about the part, there was a hitch: The role was only scheduled to run five episodes.
