HOT STORIES: AS THE WORLD TURNS, A Real Train Wreck

If you read spoilers or watch preview videos you knew it was coming, but Friday was the day it happened on AS THE WORLD TURNS. Dr. Reid Oliver became stranded on some railroad tracks on the way to Bay City as a train quickly approached. After dealing with the death of Nancy this week, it looks like next week will be full of more heartache (for those who try to remain spoiler free, the show tends to spoil any cliffhanger in the previews anyway so it must be tough). HOT STORIES: The Return of Dr. John Dixon

Nothing could be hotter for AS THE WORLD TURNS than the return of one of the most complex characters in soap opera history, Dr. John Dixon, played by one of the greatest actors of all time, Larry Bryggman. The show was wise to use the 2010 version of John, Dr. Reid Oliver, to bring the character back. Well done, ATWT.

Tuesday's daytime soaps included a wedding, non-wedding, lots of yelling, gay kissing (but no sex) and much more. Here are some of the hot stories of the day.

TESTAMENT TO LOVE: After being convinced that Trevor St. John's Todd was really Todd, Téa married him on ONE LIFE TO LIVE.

BACK THE HELL UP: Don't mess with ALL MY CHIDLREN's Angie Hubbard, or Debbi Morgan, the best actress on daytime so far in 2010.

HOT STORIES: Lauren, Reid, Maggie, Franco, Todd, Angie

With a few notable exceptions, Monday was a pretty good day for soaps. There was something to enjoy on all the daytime shows which wasn't the case on a couple of days last week. Here are some of the hot stories from Monday.

CLOSER TO DADDY: Jill pushed Lauren too far on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS so Lauren pushed her back - into an empty grave.

LUKE/REID/WEDDING: The ridiculousness of Holden attempting to go to France and back in a matter of hours aside, the Luke and Reid portion of Monday's AS THE WORLD TURNS was pretty cute. And great to see Luke in a scene with his sister Abigail (Kristina Romero).

HOT STORIES: Scrubs, Will, Téa, Greenlee, B&B

Tuesday was another ho-hum day of daytime soaps, but there were some good moments sprinkled in with the mundane. Check out those hot moments and stories below.

LOOK OUT, SCRUBS!: Lisa is starting to get scary on GENERAL HOSPITAL. Poor Robin.

FROM INTERN TO PART-TIME JOB: Will impressed Stefano on DAYS OF OUR LIVES so much that the Phoenix wanted to give him a part-time job once his internship was over. Of course, there's no reason for Sami to know about this.

HOT STORIES: Chloe, Hope, CarJack, Maxie, Damon, Layla

Monday was definitely not the most exciting day in daytime soap history but there were a few good moments that stood out.

BAM: Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) went off on Heather on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS after Chance confessed their one-time sexual encounter.
Chloe: "I see a reoccuring theme here, Heather. No one wants you, and only you. So whatever you have to offer, I guess just isn't really all that appealing, now is it?"
Heather: You know, I didn't sneak up on Chance in the middle of the night. He knew what he was doing.
Chloe: Oh yeah. He was doing a nasty, pathetic little slut.

MAXIE VS. LISA: Monday's GENERAL HOSPITAL was a bit of a letdown after an exciting week last week but the best part was Maxie and Robin, especially Maxie telling Lisa exactly what she thinks about her.
Maxie: "Don't you dare go anywhere near that operating room. And you keep your manipulative, home-wrecking self away from my family."

HOT STORIES: Franco, Cricket, Angie, Steffy, GTST, FNL

From Angie to Cricket, from Steffy to Francophrenia, there are a number of hot stories on the soaps right now. Here's a sample of some of the hottest below.

MAD WORLD: Jason, Dante and Lulu were all in Los Angeles this week chasing Franco on GENERAL HOSPITAL. The first clip features the dramatic climax of their story at the MoCA. But there was plenty of drama back in Port Charles as well, and a brilliantly sad moment as Shirley (Michael Learned) passed away in the middle of multiple hospital dramas.

HOT STORIES: Liz Foster, Jessica Leccia, Michael, Chloe

Friday was an interesting day on daytime soaps, some good and bad. THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS killed off the best thing about the show this week and one of the best characters of all time, Liz Foster (hate that decision). After Snapper reveals the truth about Jill's parents to Jill, she shows up at Lauren's door. Elwhere, Jessica Leccia debuted as Inez on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, Michael was released from prison on GENERAL HOSPITAL, and Chloe continued to lie to Daniel on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, adding plotting with Nicole to the mix.

HOT STORIES: Fosters, Hortons, and Binks! Oh My!

What a great day for soaps on Tuesday as the amazing Liz Foster (Julianna McCarthy) returned to THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS along with her son Snapper (David Hasselhoff), Bianca (Christina Bennett Lind) returned to ALL MY CHILDREN, and even Bill and Laura (Jon Martin and Jaime Lyn Bauer) returned to DAYS OF OUR LIVES, in an episode that featured a great Sami and Alice flashback. Watch it all below including Kristina plotting against Sonny on GENERAL HOSPITAL.

HOT STORIES: The Death of Matt Saracen's Father

If you want to watch good soap opera, look no further than last night's episode of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, "The Son." The show aired on DirecTV six months ago, but many fans are seeing it for the first time now on NBC. Last week, Matt learned his father died in Iraq. This week he deals with the aftermath - friends gathering, choosing the funeral package, seeing the body and giving the eulogy. Zach Gilford stepped up his game and played every beat perfectly as the wounded Matt Saracen.

Well, it was a hot story, until someone decided to scapegoat Kyle and Fish for ONE LIFE TO LIVE's ailing ratings. Monday's episode was the last scheduled airdate for Kyle and Fish together. Kyle is scheduled to appear one more time. Fish was awarded custody of Sierra Rose. Watch it below.

HOT STORIES: BETTY's Justin Comes Out To His Family

UGLY BETTY's Justin Suarez came out to his family on last night's next to last episode. He actually just revealed what they already knew when he slow danced with his classmate Austin at Hilda's wedding reception. The way the show has handled the Justin character since day one has been refreshing, wonderful and inspiring. Stories like this can do more good in the world than many network executives realize. HOT STORIES: ATWT's Bob & Kim Celebrate 25 Years

It took 13 years, which included marriages to other people, before Bob and Kim finally got married on AS THE WORLD TURNS in 1985. Chris was born a year later. The past few episodes, which coincided with ATWT's 54th anniversary, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary (although as it turns out they were "living in sin for 25 years" per Lisa). These shows consisted of longtime favorites, flashbacks, and even a very brief Julianne Moore cameo at the end of Monday's episode. Dutch soap GOEDE TIJDEN SLECHTE TIJDEN, part-time home of Elizabeth Hubbard, aired its 4,000th episode on Friday which was watched by 1.6 million viewers.
