'Corrie' stars past and present have paid tribute to the "caring, loveable and funny" Anne Kirkbride, who played Deirdre Barlow in the soap for more than 40 years. Smiles and laughter were the theme at Manchester Cathedral in a celebration of the life of the popular Oldham-born actress, who was hailed for creating one of television's "truly great characters". The memorial service, attended by up to 600 people including members of the public, heard that all Kirkbride "ever wanted to do was make people happy."

AMC Network Announces 2014 Programming Schedule: TURN Premieres April 6, MAD MEN Returns April 13

AMC today announced key 2014 programming dates for new and returning scripted and unscripted series. The network's newest drama, TURN - a spy thriller about the untold story of America's first spy ring during the Revolutionary War - will kick off on Sunday, April 6 at 9 p.m. ET with a 90-minute series premiere. One week later, on Sunday, April 13 at 10 p.m. ET, the highly-anticipated first half of the final season of MAD MEN will launch.

Summer 2014 will heat up with the June premiere of HALT AND CATCH FIRE, which captures the rise of the PC era in the early 1980s, during which an unlikely trio - a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy - take staggering personal and professional risks in the race to build a computer that will change the world. Later in the summer will bring the season four roll-out of the AMC western HELL ON WHEELS, which grew to an average audience of 3.3 million viewers (live plus three days of time shifting) in its move to Saturday nights in 2013. TURN and HALT AND CATCH FIRE are produced by AMC Studios and both series will be distributed internationally through Entertainment One (eOne) Television.

HELL ON WHEELS Renewed For an Expanded Fourth Season

AMC announced on Thursday that it renewed its original Western drama HELL ON WHEELS for an expanded fourth season. For its third season, HELL ON WHEELS was moved to Saturday - a day that AMC has traditionally devoted to classic Western films and television shows - and the show attracted a larger audience than it had in its second season on Sunday nights. In its third season, HELL ON WHEELS delivered an average audience of 3.3 million viewers, live and with three days of time shifting.

Return of BREAKING BAD Delivers 5.9 Million Viewers, Most-Watched Episode in Series History

AMC's BREAKING BAD returned last night with the first of its eight final episodes, delivering 5.9 million viewers, the most in series history and up 102% over the show's season five premiere last summer. From 9-10 p.m., the network earned a 4.2 HH rating delivering 3.3 million adults 25-54 and 3.6 million adults 18-49. Immediately following BREAKING BAD, AMC premiered its newest dramatic series, LOW WINTER SUN, which got off to a strong start, attracting 2.5 million viewers.

To close AMC's first ever three-premiere night, the BREAKING BAD after-show, TALKING BAD - hosted by Chris Hardwick and featuring discussion and analysis of this iconic television series - debuted with 1.2 million viewers.

RAY DONOVAN Executive Producer Bryan Zuriff Pleads Guilty In Gambling Ring Tied To Russian Mob, Faces 5 Years In Prison
Days after Showtime picked up his freshman drama for a second season, the series’ executive producer Bryan Zuriff has pleaded guilty to running an illegal gambling operation. U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement today from New York that Zuriff faces up to five years in prison and has agreed to forfeit $500,000 as part of his plea deal, according to the statement.

HELL ON WHEELS Two-Hour Season Three Premiere Will Air On Saturday, August 10

Season 3 of HELL ON WHEELS finds Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount) leaving his vengeance-seeking behind and investing in the new American landscape. The season opens in 1867, the third year of the building of the transcontinental railroad, and the beginnings of big business, big religion, and the new role of Wall Street in the White House.

Bohannon must contend with racism, greed and murder as he single-mindedly leads the Union Pacific in its race across the country against the Central Pacific Railroad. The high stakes corporate race, the environmental costs and degradation of the native peoples' way of life are themes that resonate deeply in today's America.

AMC announced today that the network is adding a third night of original programming with the season three premiere of HELL ON WHEELS debuting Saturday, August 3 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Jennifer Ferrin Joins HELL ON WHEELS as Series Regular

Jennifer Ferrin, who’s currently pursuing Kevin Bacon in THE FOLLOWING, is joining the third season of HELL ON WHEELS as a series regular, TVLine is reporting.

Ferrin will play Louise Ellison, a smart, witty and flirtatious journalist hired by the New York Sun to cover the “story of the century” — the building of the Transcontinental Railroad. Louise imbues her work with an element of human emotion as well as thorough, blunt, truthful fact-finding. She is strong and independent and demands to be treated with the same respect that any man in her position would be given.

Ferrin spent three years playing Jennifer Munson on AS THE WORLD TURNS, earning the actress two Daytime Emmy nominations. Her ATWT mother was played by Colleen Zenk, who is also starring in a Western, the hit indie web series THURSTON.

HELL ON WHEELS Renewed, John Wirth Named Showrunner

AMC announced today the renewal of HELL ON WHEELS for a third season with John Wirth (V, FALLEN SKIES, TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES) serving as executive producer and showrunner. Season three of the series has been greenlit for ten, one-hour episodes and is scheduled to premiere in third quarter 2013.

Centered on the lawless town known as HELL ON WHEELS, that travels with and services the construction of the first transcontinental railroad, the series examines the railroad’s institutionalized greed and corruption, the immigrant experience and the plight of the newly emancipated African-Americans during reconstruction. HELL ON WHEELS second season wrapped in October with an average of 2.4 million viewers and 3.2 million viewers with Live plus 7.
