"It's totally and absolutely out of the blue, and in complete contrast to what we were expecting, so it's a terrible shock," explains actor Bill Roache, who's played Ken since the soap's first episode in 1960.

"When something really big happens, you don't do anything. You're dumbstruck, literally – bang. If it's something as awful as that, you don't scream, you don't shout, you don't cry, you are just literally struck dumb. So that's how I played it."

It looks like Erik Valdez is exiting GENERAL HOSPITAL.

From Daytime Confidential's Jamey Giddens: "I'm hearing hunky, Latin actor Erik Valdez has been let go from General Hospital. No word on whether the ABC sudser plans to recast the role of Kate/Connie's (Kelly Sullivan) long-lost son."

Valdez has been playing Trey Mitchell since June 11, 2012.

GENERAL HOSPITAL star Ingo Rademacher mentioned taping an appearance on THE CHEW recently on Twitter and now ABC has revealed all the details of a "Behind the Soap Screen" series on ABC Daytime food/talk show in a new press release:

Beginning MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 fans of “General Hospital” have another reason to celebrate as “The Chew” pays house calls to some of the popular drama’s most celebrated stars. “General Hospital” airs at 2:00 p.m., ET/1:00 p.m., PT, immediately following “The Chew” on ABC.
