New NBC drama The Slap is generating a lot of attention, especially from Ellen DeGeneres, who complained this week that they stole her idea for a very similar show that includes multiple slaps. Alison Sweeney Leaving DAYS OF OUR LIVES After 21 Years as Sami Brady (Video)

After spending 21 of them as Sami Brady on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, Alison Sweeney is getting ready to go. Sweeney is leaving DAYS at the end of the year, she reveals in an interview airing Tuesday on THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW.

"I'm celebrating my 21st year … and I decided that it's going to be my last year with the show," she says. "I have worked so much, and my daughter just turned 5 and my son is 9, and I just want to be with them."

No timetable has been set for Sami's exit, nor does Sweeney know what will happen to her character.
