El Rey Network Casts James Callis for Recurring Role in 'Matador'

James Callis (Battlestar Galactica, Bridget Jones' Diary) has been cast in a recurring role in the spy thriller, Matador, premiering Tuesday, July 15th at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The 13-episode series, from award-winning writer/producer Roberto Orci, is the second scripted original to air on filmmaker Robert Rodriguez's English-language entertainment network. Rodriguez directs the series premiere.

Callis will enter the world of Matador as Lucien Sayer, a mysterious figure who commands a fraternity of the world’s most elite businessmen, politicians and influencers. Thanks to the actions of telecom mogul Andrés Galan (Alfred Molina), Sayer continues to keep his hand in globe-spanning illegal enterprises. Uncovering Sayer’s ultimate goal will drive the mission of Tony “Matador” Bravo (Gabriel Luna) over the course of the season. The London-born Callis earned a Saturn Award and an AFI Award for his work as “Dr. Gaius Baltar” in the Emmy-awarded series Battlestar Galactica. He recently wrapped filming for Blood Moon and stars in the upcoming Endemol Australia/Nine Network miniseries Gallipoli. Callis is repped by Innovative, Alan Siegel Entertainment and Emptage/Hallett.

Christopher Cousins, Eve Torres & Margot Bingham Join El Rey Network's 'Matador'

El Rey Network announced today that Christopher Cousins (Breaking Bad, One Life to Live), Eve Torres (WWE, The Scorpion King) and Margot Bingham (Boardwalk Empire) have been cast in recurring roles in the spy thriller, Matador, premiering Tuesday, July 15th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Cousins will portray Deputy Director Llewyn Wayne Smith, a seasoned higher up within the CIA who is in charge of the department responsible for recruiting Tony Bravo (Gabriel Luna). While he may seem to be ever the professional, Deputy Director Smith keeps most of his cards close to his vest. Cousins recently portrayed Skyler White’s boss Ted Beneke in the critically-acclaimed series Breaking Bad. His other recent credits include the feature film Draft Day alongside Kevin Costner, and recurring roles in Revolution, Lipstick Jungle, Vanished and more.

El Rey Network Launches 'Slaves for Santanico' Party Line Promotion in Support of First Scripted Original, 'From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series'

El Rey Network today announced a new multi-platform promotional initiative titled "Slaves for Santánico" designed to drive fan engagement and sampling for El Rey Network's first original scripted series From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series. The innovative marketing program, rolling out April 21 through May 21, is timed to support the airing of the series' final four episodes, beginning with episode 107 (airing April 29) which features Eiza Gonzalez as Santánico Pandemonium. Credited for launching actress Salma Hayek's career, the Santánico character has been etched into the memory of fans around the globe and in episode 107, entitled "Pandemonium," Gonzalez will reenact the iconic snake dance from the cult classic film (which features special makeup effects by The Walking Dead's award winning makeup guru, Greg Nicotero, who oversees makeup effects for thfrome El Rey Network series).

Alfred Molina cast in El Rey Network's MATADOR

Alfred Molina has been cast as Andres Galan in El Rey Network's upcoming scripted series, MATADOR, set to premiere July 2014. Previously announced castmembers include Gabriel Luna, Nicky Whelan and Neil Hopkins.

Created by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, and produced in association with K/O Paper Products, MATADOR will feature Molina as Andrew Galan, a man who built his fortune in the telecom industry, but his true passion is soccer. As owner of the ascendant LA Riot franchise, he is celebrated in both the sports and business worlds. But there is another world that he operates in -- as a member of an elite group of powerful global players, ruthless individuals who can effect world events on a scale that one would never imagine. What Galan doesn't know is that there is a mole in his midst. One of his new players, Tony Bravo, is actually an undercover operative, sent in to expose him and his cohorts. As Tony and Galan grow closer, the fate of their relationship may very well determine the fate of the world.

12 New Images From Robert Rodriguez's FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES


El Rey Network plans to take viewers on a wild ride with the highly-anticipated, one-hour premiere of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES on Tuesday, March 11th at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The series, created and executive produced by network Founder and Chairman, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, is based on the cult classic film of the same name. The 10-episode series will serve as the first scripted original to air on the network.

Rodriguez, who will direct the first, second and fourth episodes, has enlisted fellow award-winning filmmakers, Eduardo Sánchez and Joe Menendez to direct episodes three, and five, respectively. Emmy-Winning Special Effects wizard Greg Nicotero (THE WALKING DEAD) will oversee make-up effects for the series. As previously announced, NIKITA executive producer Carlos Coto is the showrunner.

Wilmer Valderrama Join FROM DUSK TO DAWN Cast

Wilmer Valderrama (THAT '70S SHOW) has been cast as enigmatic crime lord Carlos, in El Rey Network's highly anticipated supernatural crime saga, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES. Based on Robert Rodriguez's cult classic film of the same name, the hour-long series will premiere on El Rey Network in Q1 2014, debuting as the first scripted original series on the new genre-busting cable network.

Valderrama joins the previously announced D.J. Cotrona who plays Seth Gecko; Zane Holtz as Richie Gecko; Jesse Garcia who plays Texas Ranger Freddie Gonzalez, a new character created for the series; Don Johnson (Django Unchained, Nash Bridges) who joins in a recurring role as Sheriff Earl McGraw; Robert Patrick as Jacob Fuller; Madison Davenport as Kate Fuller; Brandon Soo Hoo as Scott Fuller and Eiza González as Santánico Pandemonium.

FROM DUSK TILL DAWN Adds Robert Patrick, Eiza González, Madison Davenport and Brandon Soo Hoo


On the heels of last week’s start of production in Austin, El Rey Network today announced the newest cast members of the highly-anticipated, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES, premiering in Q1 2014 on the new English-language cable network. Created in association with FactoryMade Ventures and created and executive produced by network founder and filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, the supernatural crime saga (based on the cult classic film of the same name) will feature Robert Patrick as Jacob Fuller, Madison Davenport as Kate Fuller, Brandon Soo Hoo as Scott Fuller and Eiza González as Santánico Pandemonium. The 10-episode serialized drama will serve as the first original scripted series to air on the new genre-busting cable network. El Rey Network will debut nationally in December 2013.
