Karen spent much of her time counseling others, although she did find time to marry and experience some marital difficulties of her own. The show ran until 1942 but returned from 1944 to 1948 as the story of nurse Eileen Holmes and her romance with Dr. Paul Burton, with only a few characters remaining from the original version. The opening line was by Dan Archer who said: "And a happy New Year to all!" His wife Doris responded with: "A very happy New Year, Dan." During the episode, Dan’s son Philip shared a kiss with a nearby farmer’s daughter, Grace, as he drove her home from a party and they discussed his job interview for the next day. The episode ended with Philip being angry at brother Jack for not returning his car, which made him late for his job interview.
The Archers is not only the world's longest-running radio soap opera but became the world's longest-running "active" soap opera in any format with the cancellation of Guiding Light in 2009.

1981: On Another World, Amanda returned alone from her walk outside with Rachel and told Mac that Rachel was "gone." Mac, Jamie and Brian then heard car tires screeching outside.
1981: On Knots Landing, Diana (Claudia Lonow) had difficulty with her new boyfriend as felt pressured to sleep with him. Meanwhile, Karen (Michele Lee), Diana, Val (Joan Van Ark) and Ginger (Kim Lankford) performed in an ERA benefit. Val asked Gary (Ted Shackelford) to help, but he was too preoccupied helping Earl Trent (Paul Rudd). Diana needed Karen's support but she was too busy rehearsing. In frustration, Diana pulled out of the benefit. Meanwhile, with Laura (Constance McCashin) preoccupied with work, Richard (John Pleshette) spent his time with Abby (Donna Mills) and they ended up in the hot tub. Karen and Diana later made up and sang "Put on a Happy Face" at the show.
1982: On General Hospital, the residents of Port Charles felt the after effects of New Year's Eve the next morning.
1982: On Dallas, Donna’s success as an author irritated Ray (Steve Kanaly). Photographer Roger Larson encouraged Lucy (Charlene Tilton) to resume modeling. Daytime Emmy winner Eden Riegel is heading to primetime once again with a guest role in an upcoming episode of NCIS: Los Angeles.
On November 6, Riegel will play Dr. Iris Miller in "Crazy Train." Callen (Chris O’Donnell) goes undercover as a patient in a mental health hospital to search for an NSA agent who disappeared while tracking an ISIS cell trying to cross the Mexican border.

Steve Silverman's latest project is the upcoming comedy web series, Club 5150, whose all-star cast features many familiar faces, including Crista Flanagan, Adrienne Wilkinson, Michael Caruso, Mary Gallagher, Wayne Wilderson, Sharon Houston, Mari Weiss, Eden Riegel, Crystal Carson, Lee Sherman and Deidre Hall.
When Angela (Flanagan) comes home to find a '5150' has been called on her for fear she is a danger to herself, she has 72 hours to prove to a therapist, her husband, her best friend, and the nanny that she is indeed sane.

Eden Riegel has joined the cast of Steve Silverman's upcoming Club 5150.
Emmy winner Eden Riegel, best known for her portrayal of Bianca Montgomery on ABC's All My Children, has been cast in the upcoming digital series Club 5150. Riegel will play Seven, a mysterious member of the club.
“We are beyond thrilled to have Eden join the fun,” says show creator Steve Silverman, who has revealed little about the series so far. “She’s someone I’ve been wanting to work with for years. And I think the audience is really going to enjoy seeing her in a role that’s kind of a change-up in pace for what they’re used to.”
Riegel, whose impressive resume includes iconic series Criminal Minds, Rizzoli & Isles and The Young & The Restless, is no stranger to the web world, having starred in the Emmy-nominated smash Imaginary Bitches.
