'One Life to Live' Alum Eddie Alderson on Cancer Battle: "#NoSurrender in Me'

Actor Eddie Alderson, who is best known for his portrayal of Matthew Buchanan on ABC soap opera One Life to Live, gave fans an update on his Instagram page about his cancer battle.

Alderson, who had announced that he had completed his six-month chemotherapy treatment for lymphoma cancer, revealed that his journey was not yet finished. Along with a photo, he posted the following message:

"My journey continues on~ I started stronger chemo a few weeks back, but nothing is getting me down. Chemo may take my hair but it will never take my spirits or positive state of mind. Feeling great, actually shot an 86 today on the golf course today, not too bad 😎. One thing is for certain, there is #NoSurrender in me. Never."

Emmy winning former One Life to Live and General Hospital star Kristen Alderson has provided an update on the condition of her brother (and former OLTL co-star), Eddie Alderson, who announced he had cancer on Monday morning.

"My beyond precious and amazing brother (and best friend) @eddiealderson go diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer last Friday. Ever since, we've been surrounded by love, support, and optimism. He is so strong and determined, I know he'll beat this. Please pray for Eddie's journey w/ us. I'll keep you updated as always."

Kristen later posted another update announcing Eddie had been diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma.

"The power of prayer is AMAZING! As of this morning Eddie was scheduled for surgery tonight. They said his first biopsy didn't have enough tissue to determine the exact kind of lymphoma. This would've pushed back his diagnoses/treatment and would've meant more time in the hospital. Only 4 hours after he announced his cancer (and you all responded with beautiful words and prayer) the doctor came in and said he no longer needed surgery! They were able to diagnose him using the sample they already had. (GREAT news) AND he he officially has Hodgkins Lymphoma (which is very treatable). He's going home today and will start chemotherapy on Monday."

One Life to Live actor Eddie Alderson revealed on Instagram that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma.

"This weekend has been a crazy one to say the least," he wrote. "Some of you may already know, but Friday I was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and will begin chemotherapy sometime this week. While this journey will not be easy. I know that together with all of my family and friends, we will beat this! Just a bump in the road on this crazy ride we call life! I will keep all of you updated as we go along."

Lymphoma is the name for a group of blood cancers that develop in the lymphatic system. The two main types are Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).

Alderson, 22, played Matthew Buchanan on One Life to Love from 2001 to 2012.

In August, Alderson's former co-star Kassie DePaiva announced that she was being treated for Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
