I look forward to working with the wonderful cast and crew, and I hope the viewers enjoy my character."

DIRTY SOAP is going the theme of the week route and this week's theme was marriage. Subtle is not the word for this particular theme. It seemed as if every other word out of their mouth was marriage. And when they weren't uttering the word marriage the other word that seemed to be a favorite this week was drama. I'm fine with the themes since they are starting to do two of the things I said they should be doing since the beginning: ramping up the Kirsten/Farah feud and more heavily integrating the cast with one another.

Leno change could mean earlier FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS on NBC
With THE JAY LENO SHOW in prime-time officially cancelled, it now leaves NBC with five hours of programming a night to fill starting March. Of course, sitting on the bench is the fourth season of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS which, Jeff Gaspin, NBC Universal Chairman of Television Entertainment, said could come back while speaking at today’s Winter TCA press tour.
Taylor Kitsch to Leave FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Taylor Kitsch, who plays bad boy Tim Riggins, will not be returning next season as a series regular, executive producer Jason Katims has revealed.
INTERVIEW: Y&R's Eric Braeden (Victor)
"We aren’t very close on the set, and anyone who tells you otherwise is spreading a myth. The nature of the beast is that you do your scenes and you go back to your dressing room. Some people you get along with better than others, but in the end I don’t give a damn, and in the end it doesn’t make any difference. What’s important—the only thing I care about—is what comes across on screen."
Should TV drama writers stop feeding "revelation addicts"?
"American television writing now needs its own equivalent of the slow-food movement, an antidote to all the OMG! pills we've swallowed each time someone turns up dead or divulges some sordid secret," Hank Stuever writes of all the revelations in this season's first two episodes of BIG LOVE. "What exactly is the rush? (Fear of boredom? Which leads to cancellation?)"

Today, GLAAD unveiled our all-new “Be an Ally & a Friend” public education campaign. This year’s campaign has 22 public service announcements (PSAs) featuring 32 top entertainers from the world of television, film and music.
“Now, more than ever, we need the support of straight allies in our work towards full equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community,” says GLAAD President Neil G. Giuliano. “Straight allies play a vital role in fostering a climate of understanding and respect for LGBT people in their communities, helping all of us to recognize the common ground that we share.”
The campaign, now in its third year, features two distinct spots: one about the importance of accepting a gay friend or family member, the other about standing up for gay and transgender equality. These PSAs encourage the audience to “be an ally and a friend,” sending viewers to online resources to give them the tools to support LGBT family, friends, colleagues and fellow students, and find ways to get involved in gay and transgender advocacy in their own communities. There are multiple 20- and 30-second versions of the spots, as well as versions of the PSA in Spanish.
The PSAs feature (alphabetically) actor Kevin Bacon (ex-Tim, GUIDING LIGHT), William Baldwin (Patrick, DIRTY SEXY MONE), Candis Cayne (Carmelita, DIRTY SEXY MONEY), Gabrielle Christian (Spencer, SOUTH OF NOWHWERE), comic Kate Clinton, Lauren Collins (Paige, DEGRASSI), actor Alan Cumming, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, Loretta Devine (Grey’s Anatomy), Sally Field (Nora, BROTHERS & SISTERS), Van Hansis (Luke, AS THE WORLD TURNS), Cheyenne Jackson, Paul James (Calvin, GREEK), T.R. INTERVIEW: DAYS' James Scott (EJ) "I was very, very, very upset to see Thaao leave the show! I have seen other people come and go, but I was particularly sorry to see him go. I love Thaao Penghlis. He is a wonderful actor. He is great to work with on set, and he can be the most difficult bugger, but that’s his charm. I really was very sad to hear it and to see it, and upset indeed! He was one of those actors that just bring something. You know, a level you don’t often find. You can give him terrible material and he will always come back with something, and he will give you something that is compelling. They were not making any choices based on quality of performances when they let him go, because he just rises above other people. I am not saying everybody. But, if you saw the Emmy nominations from last year, it was breathtaking and wonderful to see his work. I think it’s sad, and a great shame, and I wish they could have found some way around it. I think it’s a great loss for the show."
Kara Tointon and Ricky Groves leaving EASTENDERS Kara Tointon and Ricky Groves, who play Dawn Swann and Garry Hobbs, are being written out of EASTENDERS later this year in a storyline which sees their relationship being pushed to the limit.
Tointon, who is dating former Enders star Joe Swash in real life, said: "Being at EASTENDERS has been the best four years of my life. I will always hold the show dear to my heart and will continue to be an avid fan."
Is Edie really dead on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES? She is according to Michael Ausiello: "They really killed the ol' broad this time. But Edie returns in a big way in the April 19 episode via newly-created flashbacks with each of the main housewives. It'll be just like the 100th episode, only swap out Beau Bridges and insert Nicollette Sheridan."

Why Hulu Is Winning The Online Video Race Unlike YouTube, Hulu had legal access to great content—shows from NBC, Fox and others. And it had great technology—a clean, simple user interface and a smart search engine.
YouTube has lots of content, but from the perspective of advertisers much of it is utterly worthless. Nobody wants to tout their brand amid user-generated videos that could turn out to be almost anything, Arash Amel, analyst for researcher Screen Digest, says. He reckons that only 3 to 4 percent of the clips in YouTube's library are able to carry advertising, while at Hulu 100 percent of the library can carry advertising and 80 percent of the streams Hulu delivers have advertising attached.
Slumdog and soaps in India An excerpt from an interesting Letter to the Editor in the Stabroek News today: "Robin Muneshwer (Sunday Stabroek Feb. 22) writes about the non-acceptance of Indians of the movie Slumdog Millionaire because of 'its overly negative portrayal of India and Indians, embarrassed perhaps, that the world should discover that India, home to a million gods, has crime and corruption and poverty.' He further stated that: 'For them, India is best represented by shows like KASAMH SE where everyone is rich and fair-skinned.' Some of the main characters of KASAMH SE—Jigyasa is very dark in complexion; Jai Walia, the star is not 'fair-skinned' and so is Piya, just so you know. But to say that soaps like KASAMH SE are true representations of life in India is like saying that DAYS OF OUR LIVES and THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS are true representations of the American way of life."
WHERE ARE THEY NOW: GUIDING LIGHT's Ashley Peldon (Marah) "I do still continue to tune in now and then. I also get great fan letters that fill me in on what the Marah character has developed into over the years. I'm honored to have been a part of Marah's origins."
Minka Kelly Dishes on Her 'Bubble Butt' – and Love of Eating "I never really took the idea of me being a model seriously, because I never thought that I had the body for it," the star of NBC's FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS tells the March issue of Health, on newsstands today. "I'm five-feet-five, and I have a bubble butt and pretty big thighs. So I learned quickly just to be happy with what I've got."
