DEXTER Coming To Nextflix Starting October 31

Netflix and CBS Corporation announced today a content licensing agreement in which all eight seasons of the Showtime drama DEXTER will become available for Netflix members in the United States. Beginning on Halloween (Oct. 31, 2013), the first four seasons of the award-winning series will be available to watch instantly; seasons 5-8 will begin on Jan. 1, 2014.

Starring Golden Globe winning actor Michael C. Hall, DEXTER tells the story of Dexter Morgan, America’s favorite serial killer. As a Miami forensics expert, he spends his days solving crimes, and nights committing them. But Dexter lives by a strict code of honor that is both his saving grace and lifelong burden. Torn between his deadly compulsion and his desire for true happiness, Dexter is a man in profound conflict with the world and himself.

DEXTER Finale Ranks as Its Biggest Telecast Ever & Highest-Rated Episode in Showtime History

Last night, Showtime said goodbye to its iconic drama series DEXTER, and despite facing a competitive night of programming on broadcast, basic and premium cable, the DEXTER series finale delivered the show's highest-rated telecast ever and the biggest audience ever for an original episode in SHOWTIME history, besting the show's season seven finale and season eight premiere. DEXTER attracted 2.8 million viewers at 9 p.m. (up 13 percent from the season 8 premiere - vs. 2.5 million viewers, and up from the season seven finale - vs. 2.7 million) and 3.3 million viewers for the night (up from the season eight premiere - vs. 3.2 million viewers).

Showtime Releases A Look Back At The Past 8 Seasons of DEXTER

The countdown has begun to the series finale of the iconic Showtime drama series DEXTER, which airs this Sunday, September 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. On Wednesday, the network released a special trailer that takes a look back at Dexter Morgan's conflicted journey over the past eight seasons and everyone who has ended up on his kill table. DEXTER "KILLER COMBO" Sandwiches To Be Distributed Throughout Los Angeles And New York

To mark the launch of the eighth and final season of the network's iconic drama series DEXTER, Showtime has teamed up with Coolhaus to create a custom ice cream sandwich called the "KILLER COMBO," available at all Coolhaus retail outlets and trucks this month. In addition, Showtime has created custom For Your Consideration Emmy Award wrappers used on these scooped-to-order ice cream sandwiches, and will distribute them for free to both Television Academy voters and consumers alike through Coolhaus trucks in Los Angeles and New York this week. One special Los Angeles giveaway location will feature a "surprise" guest appearance from a DEXTER cast member.

DEXTER's Season 8 Will Be Its Last

In a special announcement this afternoon made directly to DEXTER's 13 million fans on the show's Facebook page, SHOWTIME confirmed that the upcoming eighth season of the groundbreaking series will be its final one. The announcement coincided with the release of an exclusive tease from the premiere of the series' eighth and final season, which debuts on Sunday June 30th at 9 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME. The series premiered on the network on October 1, 2006 and has grown its loyal audience every season since its debut. DEXTER was the recipient of the prestigious Peabody Award, as well as 25 Emmy(R) and 10 Golden Globe(R) Award nominations, and was twice named one of AFI's top ten television series.

Bethany Joy Lenz Will Recur On DEXTER Season 8

ONE TREE HILL and GUIDING LIGHT vet Bethany Joy Lenz will be recurring on DEXTER's eighth season, according to TV Guide Magazine.

Described as "an attractive former finance executive looking for a quieter life," Lenz's character, Cassie, is slated to debut in the season's fourth episode and will wind up moving in next door to Dexter.

DEXTER is set to premiere on June 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.

Sean Patrick Flanery & Charlotte Rampling Join DEXTER

Charlotte Rampling and Sean Patrick Flanery (ex-Sam, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS) have joined the cast of Dexter season 8 in major recurring roles.

Rampling will play Dr. Evelyn Vogel, a doctor that specializes in working with young psychopaths in unorthodox ways, while Flanery will play Jacob Elroy, the owner of a private investigation company in Miami.

DEXTER returns on June 30.

DEXTER Breaks Showtime Records; HOMELAND Reaches Series High

The one-two punch of DEXTER and HOMELAND continues to deliver record-breaking ratings for SHOWTIME on Sunday nights, as their penultimate episodes for the season delivered both series' highest ratings ever. The DEXTER season seven and HOMELAND season two finales air this Sunday night from 9 to 11 p.m. ET/PT.

DEXTER delivered 2.6 million viewers at 9 p.m., attracting the biggest audience ever for a SHOWTIME original series, as well as the best total night delivery ever for a SHOWTIME series with 3.08 million total viewers, topping the long-held record of the series' season four finale on 12/13/2009 (vs. 2.57 million at 9 p.m. and vs. 3.05 million for the night).

In the episode titled "Buck The System," Dexter tries to bring Debra on board with his new target. LaGuerta, convinced the Bay Harbor Butcher is still out there, attempts to enlist Batista to help her re-open the case.
