Cynthia Watros Joins 'Misguided,' Now a Drama Series

Cynthia Watros and Paul Gosselin
Season 3 of indie series Misguided will release the first episode of Season 3 on Monday, May 27. Episode 11, titled "The Reboot," kicks off the theme of rebooting the series from comedy to drama, and has updated its opening sequences as part of the shift. Viewers will be treated to a fresh, new opening that includes past scenes from the first two seasons and a few hints as to what's to come in Season Three. One of those hints includes the appearance of Emmy and Indie Series Award winning actress Cynthia Watros.

Watros memorable played Annie Dutton on Guiding Light before moving to primtime to star in numerous series, include Lost. She took a hilarious turn with her comedy series, Cynthia Watros Gets Lost, and was recently cast to play Nina in General Hospital.

"I used to write fan fiction about Annie Dutton and her long lost brother Adam, which I would have obviously portrayed if the character existed," said Misguided producer and star Paul Gosselin. "Every scene she was in on Guiding Light was a masterclass in acting, so when she agreed to be a part of Misguided I was literally brought to tears with excitement. I was brought to tears again when she
walked on set. She gave me such a warm hug and it all felt so right. It was an honor to have her as part of the show this season."

Watros will be playing Anne, a waitress, at The Lighthouse Restaurant & Lounge. Fans of Guiding Light will enjoy her homage to the character she once portrayed in Springfield, while fans of Misguided will see a
waitress who is unlike anyone they have ever come upon before. Are Anne's intentions pure or is there something wicked coming on the horizon?

Emmy winner David Tom spoke with TV Guide Magazine in a new interview about his return to THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as Billy Abbott on February 3. Tom, who played the part from 1999-2002, replaces Emmy winner Billy Miller who is leaving the show on January 30.

"It feels totally comfortable and I'm smiling from ear to ear," Tom told the magazine. It's like I'm still waiting to snap out of a dream. It's so great to be back working with Peter Bergman [Jack] and Jess Walton [Jill], again. When I left, Billy was more of a boy. Now I get to play him as an adult, with all his adult problems."

Tom also previewed what's ahead for the character of Billy.

"For now, he's furious that Adam did what he did and — even worse — kept it a secret."

Meanwhile, will Victoria (Amelia Heinle) find out about Billy's grief sex with Kelly (Cynthia Watros)?

"Something very big is going to happen with this. A fuse has been lit and it's getting closer and closer to an explosion."

Former GUIDING LIGHT star Cynthia Watros will co-star in MTV's drama pilot FINDING CARTER, from Emily Silver and Terri Minsky.

FINDING CARTER centers on teenage Carter, who has the perfect life with her fun-loving single mom Lori until a police bust reveals that Lori abducted her as a toddler. Now Carter must return to the family who thought they had lost her, including her biological mother Elizabeth (Watros), a tough police detective who was devastated by the disappearance of her daughter and will stop at nothing to catch her kidnapper. As she navigates brand-new parents, a twin sister, high school and boys, Carter vows to find Lori before the police capture the only mom she’s ever known and put her behind bars.

Watros won a Daytime Emmy Award for her portrayal of Annie Dutton on GUIDING LIGHT, and an Indie Soap Award earlier this year for her playing an extreme version of herself in CYNTHIA WATROS GETS LOST. Cynthia Watros Joins THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

Cynthia Watros is joining the cast of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS in November, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Watros will be playing Kelly on Y&R, a character that will have "a profound influence on the lives of several characters, including Billy, Victoria and Chloe."

Her first Y&R appearance will air November 15.

The casting notice that Y&R sent out for the character described Kelly as "a grade school teacher by trade, but not currently working. She has been married, but recently divorced." It also calls for the role to last a minimum of three episodes, but Y&R will likely keep her recurring for longer than that if possible.

If you are anxiously waiting for the premiere of Michelle Stafford's web series THE STAFFORD PROJECT (like we are), now is a great time to catch up on CYNTHIA WATROS GETS LOST. Check out the four episodes of CYNTHIA WATROS GETS LOST below, including the recently released "lost" episode. Although WATROS has now finished its run, we can't help but wish these two shows would do a crossover. Please!

50 Greatest Soap Actresses: #33 Cynthia Watros

NAME: Cynthia Watros
RANK: 33
SOAP ROLES: Annie Dutton, GUIDING LIGHT (1994-1998); Vicky Hudson, ANOTHER WORLD (1998)

AWARDS:
2006 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series
1998 Daytime Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series
1998 Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for Outstanding Villainess

COMMENTS FROM THE PANEL:
Damon L. Jacobs: Cynthia Watros had the unenviable task of portraying the third woman in Springfield to try to win Josh Lewis' heart after his wife Reva's untimely "death." What easily could have been a cliched one-dimensional role quickly became a complex psychological powder keg in Ms. Watros's capable hands.  As the recovering addict Nurse Annie, she made us care for her and hope she would end up satisfied with the widower Lewis.  But when Reva came back from the Amish, Ms. Watros surprised and shocked us by making the audience love her even more, despite her diaphragm hole-punching, dead fetus-carrying, calculated stair-falling antics.  She raised the good-girl-gone-psycho soap staple to an art form, one that every other soap has tried to duplicate ever since.  In a just world we would be seeing Ms. Watros consistently on our television and movie screens.  Does anyone else hope to hear Wisteria Lane calling?
