Watch Episode #2 of COVIES

Episode #2 of indie Irish web soap COVIES is now online. In the episode, Jim Blaney is bored with his job. He's also a hypochondriac, but is something really wrong with him this time? Patrick has been arrested for impersonating the patron saint of Ireland. The search for his true identity begins in earnest. Cahill is still seeing things. You can watch it here.

NEWS: Betty White, Julia Barr, Muhney, Soapsical

Betty White to star in TV Land pilot HOT IN CLEVELAND
The show revolves around three eccentric fortysomething best friends from L.A. (Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick) who wind up stuck in Cleveland and decide to stay there when they realize the locals consider them glamorous. White plays a grumpy and opinionated lady who has lived in the cottage of the trio's Cleveland house for 50 years.

ALL MY CHILDREN picked up in Australia
ALL MY CHILDREN is heading to a network down under, following a license deal secured by Toronto-based distributor The Fremantle Corporation. Fremantle confirmed that AMC has now been sold in more than 20 countries worldwide.

Peabody firefighter plays a rescuer on ATWT
Kevin Pasdon is a lifesaver on-screen and off. The Peabody native is a firefighter in his home city, but he is also an actor with a fledgling career on television. Today, he will appear as an emergency medical technician on AS THE WORLD TURNS.

"Soapsical" coming back in February
Bree Williamson, Jason Tam, Chris Stack and Bethann Bonner will be returning to the the Laurie Beechman Theater in New York on Tuesday February 9th and Saturday February 13th in the new musical comedy, "Queen Bea: A Soapsical!" which had its sold-out concert premiere last November.

"I've been able to sample different slices of demographics -- those who peruse the Internet, those who are casual viewers, those who are die-hard but aren't online, critics, of course, cast members -- it's interesting to see everyone's take on this character. But I can tell you that at the end of the day, it's just fun going into work knowing that I'm going to be playing a part like this."

COVIES creator Len Collin is clearly an experienced storyline writer. While editing appeared a little rough at some stages and acting uneven, it must be remembered that this series was made on a shoestring budget.

Networks improving Hispanic presence – on both sides of camera
n December, the National Latino Media Council issued its ninth annual network television report card, grading the four largest commercial networks on their ability to hire Hispanic talent. “There has been incremental progress at all four networks in terms of American Latinos,” said an announcement from the National Latino Media Council when it issued the grades.

Art Van Furniture Joins with DAYS Cast Members to Aid Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries
Art Van Furniture is teaming up with cast members from DAYS OF OUR LIVES and Detroit NBC affiliate WDIV Channel 4 to help Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries- Genesis House III. Truckloads of furniture including 50 mattress sets, bed frames, night stands and dressers will arrive next week at the Genesis House III compliments of Art Van Furniture. To celebrate this campaign and draw attention to the cause, DAYS cast members Shawn Christian (Daniel) and Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe) will make personal appearances at four Art Van Furniture stores for autographs and photos on January 16 and 17.

Deidre Hall joins Operation Smile as Smile Ambassador
Operation Smile, a worldwide children’s medical charity, has announced that actress Deidre Hall (ex-Marlena, DAYS) has been named an official Smile Ambassador and will support the organization’s global efforts of providing free surgeries for children born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities. Hall wanted to become involved with a charity that involved surgery and helping children. After researching children’s medical charities, Hall contacted Operation Smile and volunteered her services.

John Stamos Named a Top Presley Impersonator
The King of Rock-n-Roll would have been 75 this week and Time Magazine celebrated his birthday with a list of the top ten Elvis Presley impersonators. Among them, John Stamos (ex-Blackie, GH).
