One Year Later: Corbin Bernsen on the Death of His Mom, 'The Young and the Restless' Star Jeanne Cooper
"Twelve months later, I'm still grieving for her. This is my year of turning 60. My series, Psych, ended after eight years, which was my stability. I could really use her help going into this third act of my life."

"I got a wonderful note from [Y&R associate producer] Josh O'Connell telling me that the special tribute episode the show did for my mom has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy, and that just feels so incredible! So does going back once again to play Father Todd. This time I'm doing four episodes, working with Doug Davidson [Paul] and Lauralee Bell [Christine], which my mom would have loved. She adored them."

NEWS: Tuc Watkins; Corbin Bernsen; Brant Daugherty; GENERATIONS Stops Filming; BEACON HILL; America Ferrera; Is KATIE on the Way Out?

Is KATIE on the Way Out?
Katie Couric's KATIE has never delivered the audience levels Disney/ABC's syndication arm promised to the TV stations that pay high fees to carry it. Syndication executives who hear the complaints of unhappy TV station owners say that KATIE is a goner. The show will make it to a third year only if Disney/ABC and Couric agree to take less money from the stations that carry it (she currently earns $10 million a year).

People close to Couric say money is less important to her than being happy with the final product. If KATIE doesn't make it to next season, ABC stations will need to find a replacement for the hour.

South Africa soap opera stand-off stops GENERATIONS filming
The producer has told the BBC he does not intend to comply with the contract demands of striking actors. Nearly the entire cast of South Africa's most popular drama series did not turn up on set when filming of the show was supposed to restart on Monday.

ONE LIFE TO LIVE star and single dad Tuc Watkins says his twins are crawling in opposite directions
'When I don't sleep, I can be pretty grumpy," says the actor who looked pretty rested at a recent fundraiser for Gay and Lesbian Elder Housing in Malibu. Twins Catchen and Curtis were back at home with their 'manny' who is Watkins' cousin. It's an arrangement that was supposed to be for a month or two but is working out so well that the actor jokes he hopes to keep his cousin on the payroll until the twins go off to college.

"My kids are 10 months old now which means they are crawling," Watkins said. "Not only are they crawling – it’s like they’ve got little jet packs on their backs and of course go in opposite directions."

Kyle Chandler may not be interested in a FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS movie
“[Producers] Jason Katims and Pete Berg and those guys kept it alive, kept the material so fresh, and ended the thing so perfectly. I think that’s a tribute to those guys. I like the ending of the show as much as I like the whole thing in the sense that it was just done so classy, it was just done so well. Hats off to those guys.”

Stars & Industry React To Jeanne Cooper's Death

Jeanne Cooper's death prompted an outpouring of love and support from the soap opera industry and beyond on Wednesday. Check out a roundup of reaction including official statements and on social networking sites.

Official Statements:

Corbin Bernsen (ex-Todd, Y&R; ex-Durant, GH) & Family: "A beacon of light guiding us all toward humanity, humility, and equality has been extinguished but a shimmer of it will always remain as reminder from her to us all of a kinder world that is here for us each to embrace feed and make flourish in a way her truest work has just begun for us to honor her vision and make that her legacy. One of the last great Broads in our business - Jeanne Cooper (84 years old) - Mom - is now stirring up trouble in great beyond."

Jess Walton (Jill, Y&R): "Jeanne Cooper was one of a kind. No one who has ever known her would disagree with that statement. Her life force and energy were legendary. Many a time I marveled as she outlasted the rest of us on late night shoots. She was a moving, inventive, and powerful actress. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was part warrior, part rabble rouser, part truck driver and part Diva, all wrapped up in one Great Lady. Most of all, to me, she was my friend and I loved her. For the last 26 years, hers was the face I most wanted to see when I came to work. Hers was the energy I most wanted to bounce off of on stage. Hers was the voice that kept me in stitches . And because of all that, hers is the presence I will never in my life forget."

Jeanne Cooper Back In The Hospital (Updated)

Corbin Bernsen with his mother, Jeanne Cooper
Jeanne Cooper, legendary actress from THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, is back in the hospital according to her son, Corbin Bernsen, who posted the news on Facebook:

"An abundance of prayers needed this morning, mom has been taken back to hospital," Bernsen wrote. "Not sure what to pray for at this point or what we even want for her. I know in my heart there is more for her to do in this world, but I also know there is a season for all things. I want more than anything comfort for her. I want her to have peace. This is that tricky place where you start to weigh all things, not what we need to do, actions to take, but instead open ourselves for enlightenment as to what God has planned for her and ultimately what is best for her. She's a fighter and I know she'll continue that. But when you're boxer is in the corner, bruised and bloodied from battle and demands to keep going, what do you do? I'm saying my prayers this morning, asking for guidance. Again, not reporting 'the end' here, just that tricky place at the precipice and those moments requiring deepest reflection."

Corbin Bernsen Asks For Prayers For His Mother (Updated: Jeanne Cooper Is Out Of The Hospital!)

Actor Corbin Bernsen asked fans to pray for his hospitalized mother, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS legend Jeanne Cooper, Friday night in a Facebook posting.

"Need some prayers for my mom tonight," Bernsen wrote. "Pretty rough. "Won't elaborate now, but I believe there's still more purpose for her on this journey, but that's not my call. I love her so much. I want peace for her. I hope this is okay to share with all of you who know and love her, you are my friends and in a sense part of my family and community. We talk openly and honestly about a great many things and you have no idea how much comfort it gives me. Know that she's resting peacefully and this is not a message meant to announce finality, not at all, but instead, ask you to have her in you thoughts through the night."

Four hours later he tweeted in response to the outpouring of love and support via social media.

"Kindness from all is overwhelming me. The power of your prayers is working in many ways and for now, this nite, I think all is stable."
