NEWS: Heather Tom, Barbara Windsor, Corbin Bleu, Steve McFadden, Bill Tarmey

Five-time Emmy winner Heather Tom talks soaps and reality TV
On how working on soaps is different compared to theater, film and TV guest shots: "I would think the biggest difference is just the sheer volume of the work that we do. We do two shows a day. I think that’s the biggest thing. We move very fast. We don’t really get a lot of time to do two takes. We do one take and go. I think also [when] playing a character that’s been around for 10 or 20 years, that character kind of takes on a life of its own. I tend to be very excited about daytime. I like playing a character for a long period of time."

Producers hoping to persuade EASTENDERS matriarch Barbara Windsor to make permanent return
The 75 year old actress will return to the show - which she quit in 2010 after 16 years - as Walford matriarch Peggy Mitchell for one episode this fall, but the powers that be are keen to get her to return on a long-term basis.

Bill Tarmey Dead at 71

Actor Bill Tarmey, who for 30 years played lovable rogue Jack Duckworth on British soap opera CORONATION STREET, has died at the age of 71.

Jack and his tart-tongued wife Vera (Liz Dawn) were among the longest-running characters on the soap, which is set in a working-class community in northwest England.

Tarmey, a former laborer, joined CORRIE in 1979 and left in 2010.
