Patrika Darbo Interview: 'I Love Doing Different And Creative Things'

Patrika Darbo came back to DAYS OF OUR LIVES on March 4, and her character, Nancy Wesley, has been standing by her daughter, Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin), as she tries to steal Daniel from Jennifer. Today, We Love Soaps caught up with Darbo, who has been nominated for both a Daytime Emmy and an Indie Soap Award, to find out more about her return to DAYS and more. Read our interview below.

WE LOVE SOAPS: We missed you at the Indie Soap Awards this year.
PATRIKA DARBO: Oh, I'm so bummed I missed it. You know what's so great about it, being an older actor I missed all those younger actors creating new stuff, and all those wonderful shows. I really missed it. It was such a good time [last year] and I will do my best to be there next year.

ISA4 Spotlight: RAGGED ISLE

Stars from TV, Broadway and The Web will come together on February 19 at ISA4: the 4th Annual Indie Soap Awards in order to celebrate and honor the very best of the rapidly-growing indie series genre. As we countdown to the big night, We Love Soaps is spotlighting the nominated series and asking producers to tell us their favorite episode of the past year.

We continue this special ISA4 feature today with the RAGGED ISLE, which won the Best Web Series (Drama) award last year and is nominated this year for seven awards:

BEST WEB SERIES (DRAMA)
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR (DRAMA) - Ian Carlsen
BEST WRITING (DRAMA) - Greg Tulonen, Rick Dalton, Karen L. Dodd, Barry Dodd & Jacob Lear
BEST DIRECTING (DRAMA) - Barry Dodd
BEST SOUNDTRACK (ALL SHOWS)
BEST EDITING (ALL SHOWS) - Barry Dodd
BEST VISUAL/SPECIAL EFFECTS (ALL SHOWS) - Eric Anderson & Derek Kimball

"I'd say Episode Fourteen 'Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own' is probably my favorite this season," RAGGED ISLE producer, director and writer Barry Dodd told us. "There are lots of reasons why I choose this one. It's the last episode of the series that still leaves what is happening on the island a little bit behind the curtain and it's got a great sort of calm before the storm feel to it."

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: RAGGED ISLE's Maine Man, Barry Dodd, Answers Five Burning Questions

Barry Dodd, who lives in Gorham, Maine with his wife Karen and their five cats; Igor, Rasputin, Barnabas, Damien, and Quentin, recently had a few spare moments to answer five burning questions about Season Two of his masterpiece, RAGGED ISLE. The quirky, enchanting and groundbreaking show won Best Web Series (Drama), Best Cinematography (All Shows) and Best Directing (Drama) at the 3rd Annual Indie Soap Awards last February in New York City. Maine's favorite showrunner even made the best dressed list (he was typically--and adorably--bashful when he heard the news).

But will the second season live up to all the hype generated by the success of Season One? How do you top the Lobster Festival Debacle? And is there life after RAGGED ISLE? Dodd has all the answers.

3rd Annual Indie Soap Awards: Kali Cook, Jillian Clare Top Anne Sayre's Best Dressed List

The red carpet at the 3rd Annual Indie Soap Awards was flooded with photographers' flashes. There were reps from more media outlets than We Love Soaps ever expected, including several international wire services. Attendees were dressed to the nines, eagerly angling to eye each other's creativity, style and joie de vivre. We're happy to see that almost everyone was captured by one photographer or another, and the web is absolutely flooded with ISA fashion. But that leaves us wondering: which were the truly iconic ensembles of the evening, the ones that proclaim, "I am the Indie Soap Awards!"?

For the answer to that question, we turned to our guest fashion editor: New York City's gorgeous and fabulous Anne Sayre. Anne starred, for several years, as the lovable Mitzi Matters on AS THE WORLD TURNS. She began her soap career with roles on ALL MY CHILDREN and ANOTHER WORLD, has appeared in a number of sketches on LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN and has guest starred on series like NEW YORK UNDERCOVER. And, she's no stranger to the Indie Soap Awards: in 2010, she received a nomination for her comedic performance on GOTHAM.

Anne has analyzed and assessed hundreds of images from the Awards, and we are happy to announce that she has chosen her favorites. Here is her list of the top ten best dressed at the 3rd Annual Indie Soap Awards.

Here are the official We Love Soaps Winner's Circle photos from our photographer for the event, Gustavo Monroy. We start with the biggest winner of the night, RAGGED ISLE's Barry Dodd, posing above with WE LOVE SOAPS TV's Roger Newcomb and Damon L. Jacobs and The SFN's Stewart St. John and Todd Fisher. The ISAs will are exclusively on The SFN on March 18.
