Aracely Arambula To Star In The First Spanish-Language Telenovela Adaptation Of "Les Miserables" By Telemundo

Telemundo Internacional announced today at a press conference held in Cannes, France, that the well-known Mexican actress Aracely Arambula will play the leading role in the new telenovela based on Victor Hugo's classic work "Les Miserables," to be produced by Telemundo in 2014. The Venezuelan screenwriter Valentina Parraga - writer for Telemundo's ratings successes LA REINA DEL SUR (The Queen of the South) and LA PATRONA (The Return) heads the adaptation of this new mega-production by Telemundo Studios.

LA PATRONA To Premiere January 8 On Telemundo

Telemundo's anticipated original production, LA PATRONA (The Boss), premieres Tuesday, January 8 at 9 p.m. ET, starring telenovela stars Aracely Arámbula, Jorge Luis Pila and Christian Bach. This telenovela tells the story of Gabriela Suarez (Aracely Arámbula), the only woman working in a mine in a beautiful Mexican town called San Pedro del Oro.

Due to unexpected circumstances in life, Gabriela meets Alejandro Beltrán (Jorge Luis Pila), the oldest son of Antonia Guerra (Christian Bach), better known as “La Patrona.” Gabriela will live a romance with Alejandro that several people will oppose to, including Antonia, who will become her number one enemy fighting both for her son’s love and to become “La Patrona.”

TELENOVELA WATCH: EMPERATRIZ Coming To Azteca America; Plus, Short Takes!

EMPERATRIZ (weekdays at 1 p.m. ET, no English friendly options), a 2011 telenovela starring Gabriela Spanic, makes its U.S. premiere this Monday, May 14th on Azteca America.

A remake of a 1990 Venezuelan telenovela of the same name, EMPERATRIZ tells the story of Emperatriz Jurado (Spanic), a poor woman who falls in love with a rich man, Armando Mendoza (Omar Fierro), only to be abandoned by him, taking with him their newborn daughter. Emperatriz swears vengeance on Armando and vows to get her daughter back. The cast includes Bernie Paz as the male lead, Sergio de Bustamante as the villain, and Adriana Louvier as Emperatriz’s daughter.
