'The Young and the Restless' Took Actress Sofia Pernas Off Contract on Monday, She Landed a Primetime Gig The Very Next Day

On Monday, Sofia Pernas was let go early from her contract with CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless due to budgetary reasons, according to Deadline. Y&R wants Pernas to appear as Marisa on a recurring basis but that will depend on if she's available. Twenty-four hours after Y&R took her off contract, Pernas had auditioned, tested, and booked a role in the CW’s genre-themed drama pilot Transylvania.

Pernas has been cast as a regular opposite Laura Brent and Luke Allen-Gale.

Written by Hugh Sterbakov and directed by Jason Ensler, Transylvania is set in 1880 and centers on Victoria (Brent), a headstrong young woman in search of her missing father who ventures from NYC to Transylvania where she teams up with a wrongfully disgraced Scotland Yard Detective (Allen-Gale), and together they witness the births of the most famous monsters and villains in history. Pernas will play Coriander, an exotic gypsy, the leader of the matriarchal Szgany clan that runs the fleshpots of the Old City — the haunted spot where Vlad the Impaler once killed thousands of their tribe.

Pernas joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in June 2015 as the mysterious Marisa Sierras.
