Katherine Kelly Lang Spent an Action-Packed Week in the UAE, Participated In Abu Dhabi International Triathlon (Photos & Video)

Katherine Kelly Lang competed in the sold out Abu Dhabi International Triathlon on March 15, 2014, and conquered the short course of a 1.5km /.93 mile swim, 100km / 62 mile bike and 10k / 6.2 mile run, in a highly commendable 5 hours, 28 minutes and 16 seconds.

Lang, who plays Brooke Logan in THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, brought even more glamour to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, in the run up to Arabia’s largest triathlon event.

Lang spent an action packed week in Abu Dhabi taking in its wealth of attractions before filming B&B episodes in some of the area’s most glamorous and picturesque locations.

The show's fans should keep a look out for Abu Dhabi’s magnificent Corniche Beach and Yas Marina Circuit, both Abu Dhabi International Triathlon course locations, as well as the breathtaking Emirates Palace, which will all feature in a number of B&B episodes.

And Lang was full of praise for the destination which US magazine HauteLiving named ‘The Jewel of The Middle East.’

“I’ve had a truly magical week in Abu Dhabi, taking in gorgeous Arabian sights and the warmth of the locals who all helped make my trip so memorable,” said Lang.

As soon as Lang arrived in Abu Dhabi she was introduced to the Arab world’s leading Kaftan designer, Dhabya Al Romaithi, and was taken to her sister Mariam’s renowned fashion store McQueen Boutique. During her visit, Lang – who has her own range of Kaftans – noted her ambition to open up a store in Abu Dhabi.

“I have my own range of Kaftans, which is influenced by the Middle East, and so the trip really sparked my creative juices and gave me inspiration and vision for my next collection,” said Lang.

Lang – a keen horsewoman – also visited renowned Bedouin horse whisperer Ali Al Ameri, marveling at his equestrian.

“My visit to Ali Al Ameri’s ranch was one of my favorite trips while in Abu Dhabi,” said Lang. “Ali’s skills are incredible, they really have to be seen to be believed, it’s no wonder he’s built up such an established global following. I came to Abu Dhabi not only to compete in and train for the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon, but also to get a feel for the traditional culture and magic of the region. In my first day I managed to tick a whole list of experiences off my to-do-list; camel riding, dune bashing and feasting on a traditional Bedouin meal while listening to live Arabic music. It was the perfect trip to start off my week in the UAE capital.”

At the Abu Dhabi international Triathlon, Lang grew her already global fan base attracting the attention of the world’s triathlon press who were impressed by her commendable short course finish.

The talented actress and amateur triathlete also caught the eye of this year's new elite long course champion, Tyler Butterfield from Bermuda, who admitted to being a BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL fan, and who was there to congratulate Lang as she crossed the finish line.

“Competing in this event has kicked off my triathlon season and inspired me ahead of IRONMAN 70.3 California Oceanside on October 11, IRONMAN 70.3 in Italy on June 1 and – my ultimate end goal – IRONMAN Hawaii on the October 11, 2015,” said Lang.

This year marked the fifth anniversary of the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon and the first year that the event completely sold out. A line up of 2,400 triathletes from 68 countries converged on Abu Dhabi Corniche last weekend, making it one of the world’s 20 must-do triathlons.
