TELENOVELA WATCH: Two Premieres This Week - LOS 3 CAÍNES and LA OTRA CARA DEL ALMA

LOS 3 CAÍNES premieres Tuesday, March 5 at 9 p.m. ET on MundoFox. The latest “based on true story” tele-series import out of Colombia, this one produced by RTI for RCN, it looks to be another in the line of gritty, cinematic, and violent series the fledgling network schedules in prime time in hopes of attracting the young male demographic.

The official synopsis: “LOS 3 CAÍNES tells the incredible true story of the brothers Castaño: Carlos, Fidel, and Vicente, who shook Colombia in their quest for justice and revenge. The Castaños suffered a family tragedy at the hands of guerillas and swore not to rest until they made those responsible pay. They created a powerful private army funded by landowners, politicians, the military and drug traffickers to kill the guerillas, but wound up dragging the whole nation into war.”

LOS 3 CAÍNES is from Colombian writer Gustavo Bolívar (SIN TETAS NO HAY PARAÍSO; EL CAPO); the series stars Julián Román (CORAZONES BLINDADOS), Gregorio Pernía (OJO POR OJO; FLOR SALVAJE), and Elkin Díaz (EL CAPO; A MANO LIMPIA) as the principal Castaño brothers; also with Luz Estela Luengas, Eileen Moreno, Juliana Posso, Alex Gil, Jenny Osorio and Margarita Reyes.

Also premiering this week is LA OTRA CARA DEL ALMA on Monday, March 4 at 6 p.m. ET on Azteca America. A remake of the 1985 Mexican telenovela EL ÁNGEL CAÍDO, adapted for Azteca by Laura Sosa and produced by Rita Fusaro, LA OTRA CARA DEL ALMA is a woman avenger story. Gabriela Spanic (EMPERATRIZ; LA USURPADORA) stars as Alma, a woman with a single goal in life: to destroy those she holds responsible for the death of her parents when she was a little girl. The male lead is played by Eduardo Capetillo (SOY TU DUEÑA; MARIMAR); the telenovela also sees the return to the screen of Michelle Vieth, a talented actress last seen in 2008 in LA TRAICIÓN. Rounding out the cast are Jorge Alberti, Sergio Klainer, Saby Kamalich, Cecilia Piñeiro and Lambda García.
