DISAGREE with you about best triangle being Hope/Liam/Steffy on B&B! I, along with everyone else (just look at the message boards on CBS.com and everywhere else) absolutely HATES this neverending triangle and wishes it would just GO AWAY!!!! The best triangle for me in 2012 IMHO was Jason/Sam/John on GH!
ReplyDeletewho is Jason Polo?
ReplyDeleteWho in the heck is Daniel Polo?
ReplyDeleteYessssss!--Jennifer Horton is extremely annoying! She (at 40+!) is not the pour little put upon Little Nell From The Country--Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteBrian :-|
Totaly agree on the most boring character.
ReplyDeleteAgree with B&B, Best Soap. I don't watch GH, but I agree it has Best Writing. Ditto for worst triangle. Also, Jennifer/Days is super annoying. I loved Stephanie's Goodbye SL. Glad to see it's Best Story. Very deserving. Y&R needs to step it up. The show is so dang boring, I find myself looking forward to the ads (and that is a shame!) Good job on Best of 2012. Happy New Year, everyone!!!
ReplyDeleteBTW I should have said I agree GH has Best Writing because the show has made a quick turn around -- and I keep hearing from others how good the show and writing are now! Kudos to Cartini!
ReplyDeleteWell said, Chris... Hope/Liam/Steffy was a horrid triangle. While I have no individual disdain for any of those characters, I couldn't help but to hope that any one of them would be killed off so the dreadful triangle could end.
ReplyDelete@Lou Pikes: Daniel Polo is the kid that was being mentored by Ronan Malloy and being bullied by Fen and Summer on Y&R (don't know the character's name though)!
ReplyDelete@Chris: Thanks for the update. Maybe he is that new char. Jamie. I just didn't know his real name.
ReplyDeleteRe: Sonny & Will: Thanks to Days for giving us a scene that ATWT never did with Noah & Luke or Reid & Luke. Props tho to AWTW & OLTL for getting things started.
ReplyDelete@Rick: OLTL was actually the first daytime soap to show a love scene between Kyle Lewis and Oliver Fish!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a completely unbiased and balanced set of year end best & worst. I have seen several of these and yours is the first to not be some love shout out to a writer, producer or some actor/actress. Thanks for that. One particular reporter I used to have respect for until I read an interview and his best/worst and nearly became a diabetic from all the sugar he poured over his 2 idols heads. I don't agree with all of your choices but it is still the best put together list of all of them out there. Thanks for keeping it real.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year WLS & fellow commenters!
ReplyDeleteI am pleasantly surprised that B&B was named Best Soap and I happen to agree!
I disagree with several of the choices here but naming Redaric Williams (THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS) as the Sexiest Man in Daytime Soaps is THE RIGHTEST THING I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET! LOL. This man is the sexiest man in all of TV (giving Josh Henderson & Jesse Metcalfe on DALLAS a real run for their money!)
Joshua, some things are just obvious. ;)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Sonny and Will. I just wish their chemistry out of bed was as good as their chemistry in bed! Maybe 2013 will be their year and it'll all click to make them a true supercouple! Here's hoping 2013 will be a great year for soaps!!!
ReplyDeleteRedaric Williams' as Tyler in the sauna scene, made me go deaf because my mind could not compute all of the magnificence. Luckily, my eyesight sharpened in the same moment! I still suffer from the vapors from that scene.
ReplyDeleteI like the new additions to Y&R's cast. The newcomers all seem talented and extremely attractive. I like the young man who plays Jamie and the bullying story but I would have chosen either Haley King (Summer) or Robert Adamson (Noah) as Best Newcomer. I know some are still not happy with Y&R, but it has improved under Josh Griffith's pen. I think Y&R should be a slow-moving soap with tons of character development. GH is excelling at plot-driven story and it suits the show.
On a separate-note: After a day of cooking/hosting, I am planning on relaxing tonight with my Guiding Light DVDs, courtesy of SoapClassics and the Roger's tireless effort. I am so happy these discs were made available.
I love all three of those younger actors on Y&R. I think the show got it right this time.
ReplyDeleteWhich DVD will you be watching?
From the Classics set: Secrets and Scandals ("The Many Sins of Nola Reardon" is exceptionally well-acted...Lisa Brown = Love.) and Villains and Vixens for "Payback is a Bitch" (my favorite era of Guiding Light. Roger Thorpe & Alexandra Spaulding, the late greats, Michael Zaslow & Beverlee McKinsey are impeccable.
ReplyDeleteI Totally Disagree with B and B being Best soap and Best Triangle. All the other soap media would not agree. Everything else was on target.
ReplyDeleteY&R may be the soap with the "most dropped SLs of the year" (possibly of any year!) If the new HW had not dropped SLs that were better than the current and showed promised, I'd less less unhappy. Paul's SL deserved to be finished w/o rushing and never revealing who was behind taking the evidence that would have freed him. This was only one of the SLs dropped w/o a decent wrap up. If a new HW can do this amount of dropping, he should be able to do better SLs and wow us (and the ratings) without breaking a sweat (unless he's a hunk like Redaric!) JMHO
ReplyDeleteAs a longtime DAYS fan I have to agree that Jennifer Horton is the most annoying character. I've gotten to the point where I FFWD over all her scenes because her whining and weeping are so monotonous. Though I do love it when that curly-haired dayplayer at the hospital is mean to her. Daniel with Nicole was HOT. Daniel with Jen is just NOT.
