This winter, MTV will debut perhaps its most eagerly anticipated new series, SKINS, an adaptation of the hit British series. Premiering January 2011, SKINS is a realistic look at life as a teenager and its hardships (think sex, drugs, eating disorders, parent issues). MTV enlisted the original series’ father-and-son creators, Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain, to bring this provocative and controversial series to U.S. audiences.
UK Skins is a great show but it's a hyper realistic view of teen life. Very few teens have the kind of manic, drug and sex fueled existence of the teens in Skins.
I'd encourage anyone interested in seeing a good soap to rent Skins from Netflix. It's quite daring and entertaining.
UK Skins was so well-written, I just can't believe that a USA version will be able to hold a candle to it. I'm picturing teen-Jersey Shore. SoapFan78 is right, if you want to see a great show, rent the UK version.
