Ex-Soap Star Becomes Oscar Host!

This news will surely rev up the young actors on soaps today.  According to Entertainment Weekly, Alec Baldwin will be co-hosting the Academy Awards in 2010. Long-term soap viewers will remember him as Billy Aldrich on NBC's THE DOCTORS from 1980-1982, and later as a mentally ill preacher [insert your own joke here] on KNOTS LANDING from 1984-1985. He's currently enjoying a successful run on NBC's 30 ROCK.

One thing I've always appreciated about Mr. Baldwin is that he has never tried to hide his soap opera past, or much of anything else for that matter as exemplified in this photo. I'll see you at the Oscars!

  1. Damn, boys, you picked quite a picture of the host. Alas, that's not necessarily how he appears today :-).

  2. I actually think the combo of Martin and Baldwin will make for a great Oscarcast. They are both smart, funny, nice looking and likable gentlemen who will make sure the show moves along smoothly with humor and grace. Funny, they happen to be co-starring with Meryl the Great in a new comedy opening soon...coincidence?....lol..
