ONE LIFE TO LIVE star Robin Strasser updated her hotline earlier today and said that since she was in a "time out" she would be pulling back a bit. She is aware of the buzz created on the internet on Friday and appreciates her passionate fans for their support.
It's a validation in the fact that you watch me on television and you can tell that I come on board fully loaded. I know there are things that I think are secret that you read on me. More than that I'm not going to say because they can teach that to some woman they cast as Dorian. A lot of good actresses are available now.
I'm not quitting. I will not say that. 'I quit.' In take it or leave it, let me be truthful, I am declining to sign my name to something that devalues me, that does not recognize my worth or the fact that in 2003 I took a 63 percent pay cut in order to come back to the show after a three year exile. There was an inference back in 2003 that this would, in time, improve. That I would work my way back. And then there's the economy. I get it.
Strasser's current contract is not up until the end of the year. She began her neotiations early because she wanted ONE LIFE to know she planned on sticking with the show and was a team player. She also knew pay cuts were happening one actor at a time and she wanted to start early before there was nothing left at the end of the "buffet table." Unless a new deal gets done, her last tape date would be on December 18.

Robin you are a bright shining example of what an actor should be. You love your craft & put it first. If TPTB do not realize this & applaud & treat both you & Erics Slezak with the respect & honor you both deserve they are more stupid than any ot us thought. And that id damned stupid!
ReplyDeleteI was happy she mentioned her last tape date in December. That is still five months away so there is plenty of time for all this to be worked out.
ReplyDeleteI listened to Robin's hotline message. She seems like a nice person.
ReplyDeleteThere's a certain amount of fear in her voice that is heartbreaking.
Given ABC's treatment of veteran actors on other soaps, I don't doubt that sexism and ageism are in mix. If she's already taken a 63% pay cut, how could the network expect her to take another big cut?
OLTL is ABC's top soap opera. Why do they want to force out one of their best loved actors?
