PGP Blog: "Guiding Light" stars John Driscoll (Coop), Crystal Chappell (Olivia) and Ricky Paull Goldin (Gus) traveled to Baltimore, MD on Tuesday, December 11 to work with the Hands On Network affiliate, Baltimore Volunteer Central, to help sort and package thousands of toys and clothing to be distributed to children through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program.
AfterElton: The Year in Gay Television: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Betty. The other defining trend of the year was the rise of television’s gay teen. Over the summer, long-running daytime drama "As the World Turns" made television history when its two gay male characters kissed, marking the first man-to-man kiss in the history of soaps. What’s even more groundbreaking is that the kiss occurred between two teenagers, Luke Snyder and his boyfriend Noah Mayer. Since the kiss, the young couple’s story has been handled with an impressive amount of sensitivity, and the characters are treated just like any other beleaguered soap couple.
Richmond and Twickenham Times: The funeral of Tony Holland, joint creator of the BBC soap "EastEnders," took place on December 6. Mr Holland, who lived in Chiswick, died in hospital, aged 67 on November 28, after a long illness. The following day's episode of "EastEnders" was dedicated to him.
Baltimore City Paper: The Year in Television. The continued greatness of "Friday Night Lights" is due entirely to it not being about high school football.
Towleroad: Australian actor Tim Campbell, who formerly starred in the long-running soap opera "Home and Away," has come out of the closet following reports that he is dating newly-single "Australian Idol" contestant Anthony Callea. The two have been spotted together around Melbourne. Campbell denies he and Callea are involved.
