News Brief

Entertainment Weekly: Entertainment Weekly writer Mark S. Luckie takes a look back at some of the defining moments in the portrayal of the LGBT community (in both film and television) in his video essay, "Landmark Moments in Gay Hollywood". Noah and Luke's first "As The World Turns" kiss in included.

Crain's Chicago Business: Chicago's A-list snuggled into movie seats together Thursday night to meet actor/director Robert Redford and support his two passions: the new movie "Lions for Lambs" and the Natural Resources Defense Council, an international environmental activist group that is opening a Midwest office in the Loop. The event was part movie premiere and part fund-raiser for the group, which uses legal muscle on behalf of environmental issues. Three heavy-hitter couples donated $25,000 each to the environmental group: Susan Crown and William Kunkler, of the billionaire Crown family and CC Industries; Wendy Abrams, founder of the Cool Globes project, and husband Jim; and Colleen Bell, a philanthropist and writer whose husband, Bradley, is executive producer and head writer of the soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful."

Canoe: Two Ottawa beat cops recently co-starred in a real-life bust during the filming of a made-for-TV crime flick, impressing the American producer, who wasn't used to such a quick police response. A film crew from Sound Venture Productions was at Glebe Collegiate Oct. 27 shooting A Teacher's Crime for the Lifetime network when a staffer realized one of the trailers had been broken into. Ainslie S. Wiggs, the Ottawa-based location manager for the shoot, said a computer and a bag of software disappeared from the trailer when at least two of the movie's stars, Ashley Jones from "The Bold and the Beautiful" and Eric Knudsen from "Jericho", were on set.

Sixshot: You know him from the hit single, “The Way I Are”, but there’s much more you need to know about Queens bred rapper D.O.E. "I went to the VMA’s this year, I was the first rapper on a soap opera, One Life to Live, I did 'Fashion Rocks' with Dolce and Gabbana, they had a suit specially made for me. I’m on a top 10 single, I’m touring stadiums, it’s crazy. (One Life to Live) was dope. I never watched a soap opera in my life , so I didn’t know who was who but it was an experience like damn I made it. That’s daytime TV on Channel 7 and they actually announced my name. They were like Timbaland, Keri Wilson, Sebastian and D.O.E."

Bradford Telegraph Argus: A line-up of local bands and singing stars will help to light up Bradford for Christmas next week. "Coronation Street" actor Antony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully in the soap, will do the official switch on with lost more helping to make the night go with a swing. Former "Coronation Street" star Richard Fleeshman, who played Craig Harris and won Soapstar Superstar the year before Antony, will also appear at the event.
