Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Like other once-mighty institutions - including the newspaper you're either holding in your hands or sneakily reading for free on that Web thing - soap operas now struggle for survival. So it wasn't shocking to read last week in the TV trade papers that CBS wants its two longest-running soaps, "Guiding Light" and "As the World Turns," to trim down and spruce up in the interest of cutting costs and keeping viewers happy.
White Plains Journal News: Nathaniel Marston, who plays a doctor on ABC's "One Life to Live," has been released without bail following his arraignment on assault and other charges in an altercation in midtown Manhattan.
Media Week: Brian Frons is interviewed. SOAPnet has expanded from running mostly daytime and prime-time drama repeats to more originals. What's coming up in the future? "Well, we have had great success with "Night Shift", the prime-time spinoff of "General Hospital". And we would like to travel the same route with "One Life to Life" and "The Young and the Restless". Right now we have the luxury of a younger female audience tuning into One Tree Hill and The O.C., so I would like to find more programming to satisfy that crowd."
News & Observer: Durham resident Sarah Johnson certainly knows her Erica Kane trivia. Johnson, the winner of The Erica Kane trivia quiz, won two tickets to see Susan Lucci and Regis Philbin over the weekend at the Progress Energy Center.
The Jersey Journal : Soap star Gina Tognoni, who plays bad girl Dinah Marler in CBS's "Guiding Light", dropped in to help judge the best dressed dog in the Canine Costume Contest and Doggie Star Search.
AfterElton: One of "Desperate Housewives's" gay neighbors tried out for Dana Delany’s husband.
Yahoo: Eva Longoria will now be known as Eva Longoria Parker.
MM Agency: Jamie Chung of "Real World San Diego" is now starring on "Days of Our Lives".
Entertainment Weekly: What's up with mid-show recaps on "Friday Night Lights"?
